A lakeside resort in a beautiful setting and a wonderful programme of included walks and excursions await you on this holiday to Italy's attractive Umbria region, famed for its scenery and flora. With a great range of excursions and gorgeous vistas, along with the medieval towns of Orvieto, Perugia and Assisi, you'll enjoy a feast of scenic, cultural and architectural treasures.
YOUR RESORT Lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest lake in Italy, is surrounded by hilltop towns, rolling countryside, beautiful woods and slopes covered with olive groves and vineyards. It's ideally situated for some marvellous walks and visits to a wonderful array of attractions. You will stay in the picturesque lakeside village of San Feliciano on the eastern shore of the lake, overlooking the island of Polvese. Orvieto - Our half day tour takes you to this lovely medieval fortress town, which is home to one of Italy's finest Gothic cathedrals and the Papal Palace. OPTIONAL EXCURSION Perugia & Assisi - A full day excursion to Perugia, the capital of the Umbria region, and Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. YOUR HOTEL Accommodation is at the comfortable three star hotel complex Ali Sul Lago in San Feliciano, directly on the lakefront promenade. The hotel has a bar, lounge area, restaurant, pizzeria, large terrace and outdoor swimming pool. All bedrooms have private facilities, TV, telephone and air-conditioning (available during high season only). Some bedrooms are apartment style with kitchenette. Bicycles are available for hire.

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS, WALKS AND ACTIVITIES Isola Polvese - An introductory half day tour of the lake with a boat trip across to Isola Polvese. This uninhabited island offers a lovely walk, with a few surprises along the way including a monastery and a restored 14th century castle. La Goga di Magione to Caligiana - A gentle walk, from La Goga di Magione to Caligiana. There will be amazing views of the Magione Castle and the 13th Century Lombardi Tower. A recommended walk for everyone, it is 8 miles and will take approx. 3 hours to walk. Three Peaks Walk - Enjoy a walk along a wonderful trail covering the three nearby peaks of Monte Melino, Monte Penna and Monte Sperello (approx. 3½ hours' walk). Paciano to Monte Pausillo - A slightly more challenging walk, ascending from the hilltop village of Paciano to Monte Pausillo (approx. 3 hours' walk).

WALKING INFORMATION
Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks. Grade 1 Walks These are for anyone of any age. Plenty of rest stops and time to enjoy the local scenery with up to 4 hours walking a day, mostly on good paths but occasionally rough underfoot. Ascent less than 300m per day. Grade 2 Walks These are moderate, for anyone who is comfortable walking hills. Still plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery, however up to 5 hours walking a day on slightly more rugged terrain. Ascent less than 500m per day.
