The timeless attractions of Lake Maggiore are well known to generations of enchanted visitors. Bordering both Italy and Switzerland, the lake enjoys an idyllic climate, protected by the towering Alps. Our holiday features a seven night stay in the resort of Baveno, an ideal location for relaxing and enjoying the crystal blue waters, terraced flower gardens and wonderful mountain views.
YOUR RESORT The pretty resort of Baveno nestles on the western shore of the lake and has more of a village atmosphere about it. With a maze of narrow streets, small squares and traditional buildings, the focal point is the charming church, from which Winston Churchill was just one of many artists to gain inspiration. A weekly market is held here where a variety of local goods may be purchased. It is an ideal spot for relaxing by the lake, as well as a good base from which to explore and there are regular ferries to other lakeside resorts in the surrounding area. Lake Orta & Omegna Market - A half day visit to picturesque Lake Orta, situated in the foothills of the Alps. We also include a stop at the popular outdoor market at Omegna. Centovalli Railway - A full day excursion featuring a superb 90 minute scenic train ride across a hundred valleys, through remote hillside villages and over high bridges to Locarno. Return to Baveno by ferry boat. Milan - A full day excursion to Italys capital of style and fashion, including a city guide. Sights include the Sforzesco Castle, the shopping Gallerie and the famous Duomo. YOUR HOTEL You will stay in Baveno in the centrally located three star Hotel Beau Rivage, just a few minutes walk from the ferry landing stage and convenient for the resorts amenities. The hotel has a restaurant, bar service and lift. In addition, the Beau Rivage benefits from a spacious lounge area, terrace and garden. All bedrooms have private facilities, telephone, satellite TV, safe and hairdryers.

Borromean Islands - A fabulous introduction to Lake Maggiore visiting two of the most famous islands by private boat, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella with its palace and terraced gardens. Macugnaga - A half day trip to the Anzasca Valley and the picturesque Alpine resort of Macugnaga, from where you can enjoy magnificent views of nearby Mount Rosa at a height of 15,200ft. Zermatt - Our full day excursion features a scenic coach journey across the border into Switzerland followed by a short train journey from Tasch in the Matter Valley to the famous mountain resort of Zermatt, dominated by the awe-inspiring Matterhorn.
