This delightful Austrian holiday features a stay in the beautiful Alpine resort of Saalbach, an ideal location for walkers, offering an unrivalled selection of wellmarked trails and magnificent mountain scenery. We include three super walks plus some wonderful excursion possibilities it's a great holiday combination.
The popular Austrian resort of Saalbach is situated in the heart of the beautiful Glemm Valley, approximately 11 miles from Zell am See in the Salzburgerland Province. The pretty village centre is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery and there is a good selection of shops, bars and cafés. Leisure facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and bicycle hire and you'll also find cable cars and chair lifts to take you the easy way up the mountain for amazing views over the surrounding area. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Continue to your overnight stop in northern France on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Continue through France and Germany A into Austria, with an early evening arrival at your hotel for a seven night stay. DAYS 3 TO 8 - Free to relax and enjoy our A included excursions: Orientation Walk - A leisurely walk through Saalbach and the surrounding countryside (approx. 3 hours' walk). Liechtenstein Gorge - A three-quarter day excursion featuring a walk through this spectacular gorge. Return via the popular resort of Zell am See (approx. 2 hours' walk). Glemm Valley Walk - A leisurely guided walk along lower mountain paths, through pastures and meadows. (approx. 3 hours' walk). The following excursions are optional: Salzburg - A full day tour to one of Europe's best preserved historic cities, including a guided walk (approx. 2 hours' walk). Krimml Waterfalls - Our three-quarter day scenic tour takes you along the Saalach Valley with a walk through unspoilt scenery to view the falls (approx. 2 hours' walk). Grossglockner - A spectacular three-quarter day excursion along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road to view Austria's highest mountain (12,470ft). DAY 9 - Time to head home, via northern France A for a final overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 10 - Continue to Calais for a late afternoon A crossing back to the UK, returning to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay in the excellent four star Hotel Panther in Saalbach. Hotel facilities include a bar, restaurant, lift, sun terrace, sauna, solarium, and outdoor pool. All bedrooms have private facilities and TV. Your stay includes occasional salad buffet with evening dinner and complimentary tea or coffee after dinner each evening. On two evenings, dinner will be a special buffet and a four course meal including a glass of wine.

Walking Information
Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks. Grade 1 Walks These are for anyone of any age. Plenty of rest stops and time to enjoy the local scenery with up to 4 hours walking a day, mostly on good paths but occasionally rough underfoot. Ascent less than 300m per day. Grade 2 Walks These are moderate, for anyone who is comfortable walking hills. Still plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery, however up to 5 hours walking a day on slightly more rugged terrain. Ascent less than 500m per day.
