Your base in Austria is the delightful resort of Bad Schallerbach, set among the wonderful scenery of the Alpine foothills, around 30 miles west of Linz. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Continue to northern France for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Travel through Germany arriving at A your hotel in Bad Schallerbach, Austria, in the evening for a six night stay. Welcome drink and dinner tonight. DAYS 3 TO 7 - Free to relax and enjoy our A included excursions: Local Walk & Linz - Join a morning walk around Bad Schallerbach. In the afternoon we include a visit to Linz on the River Danube. After a guided walking tour of the historic centre you are free to explore. Steyr & St. Florian - A three-quarter day excursion visiting the medieval town of Steyr. You'll have free time to explore before visiting the baroque Christkindl Church. Continue to the pretty market town of St. Florian, with its famous Augustinian Abbey. Vienna - A full day excursion to sample the delights of this lovely city. Our panoramic tour features such sights as St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Opera House, the Hofburg Palace, the Musikverein and the famous big wheel in Prater Park. Return via the lovely Wachau Valley, through the charming villages of Krems, Dürnstein and Melk. The following excursions are optional: Passau & Danube Cruise - A visit to Passau, with its impressive cathedral, baroque churches and selection of shops and restaurants. After a walking tour, we take a cruise on the Danube, via the picturesque bend in the river known as the Schlögener Schlinge.
Southern Bohemia - A three-quarter day tour into the Czech Republic to visit the lovely old town of Cesky Krumlov. Enjoy a farewell barbecue on the final evening in Austria. DAY 8 - Return to Germany, continuing north to A the popular Rhineland area for a two night stay. DAY 9 - Enjoy our included three-quarter day A tour of the most scenic stretch of the Rhine, including visits to the lively riverside resort of Boppard, with its pretty promenade, and the Lorelei Rock. DAY 10 - Continue to Calais in time for a late A afternoon crossing back to the UK and continue to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTELS In Austria you will stay at the traditional Hotel Grünes Türl, located on the edge of Bad Schallerbach. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, garden and sauna. All bedrooms have private facilities, TV, and telephone. In Germany you will stay in a comfortable hotel in the Rhineland area near Koblenz. All bedrooms have private facilities and TV.
