Affectionately known as the `Golden City', no other European capital has such a wealth of original architecture from so many different periods of history. Take a walk through the delightful Old Town Square, surrounded by a maze of alleyways, stroll across the impressive Charles Bridge or simply soak up the atmosphere in one of the many bars and cafés that spill out onto the streets. DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Continue through Belgium to the Frankfurt area of Germany for an overnight stop on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - We cross the border into the Czech A Republic and continue to your Prague hotel for a four night stay. DAYS 3 TO 5 - Free to relax and enjoy our A optional excursion programme: Prague Old Town - Featuring a walking tour of the main sights with an official guide, including Wenceslas Square, the Old Town Square, with its famous Astronomical Clock, and the Charles Bridge, where you will find local artists selling a variety of arts and crafts. The afternoon is free for shopping and further sightseeing, before our coach returns you to your hotel. Prague Castle - Enjoy a guided walking tour of the towering Prague Castle, including visits to the Royal Palace, the oldest part of the castle, and the beautiful St. Vitus Cathedral. Stroll back to Prague old town via `Golden Lane', home to a number of craft shops, for free time to explore further at your own pace. Karlstejn Castle - A half day tour to Charles IV's magnificent country castle, around 20 miles
south-west of Prague. Situated on an impregnable spot where the River Berounka carves through a craggy valley, the fortress was designed to keep relics of saints and the imperial crown jewels secure. The replica crown of St. Wenceslas is on show here. Access to the castle is either by horse and carriage or minibus, or for the more energetic, a pleasant walk. Prague Evening Transfer - A return coach transfer between your hotel and the historic centre of Prague so you can experience this vibrant city by night. DAY 6 - We retrace our route back to Germany A for our final overnight stop on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 7 - Continue to Calais for a late afternoon A crossing to the UK, returning to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay in the medium grade Hotel Albion or similar located just a short drive from the old town. Amenities include a bar, restaurant and lift and all rooms have private facilities, TV and telephone. There are good bus and metro connections into Prague's old quarter.
