We have chosen Bouillon in the Semois Valley, one of the most picturesque parts of the Ardennes, for this popular holiday in Belgium. It's a wonderful, scenic region and just perfect for our included programme of walks and excursions in the surrounding area.
Bouillon, set in the plunging valley of the River Semois, enjoys a spectacular location surrounded by unspoilt scenery, locked in by the River Semois and guarded by an ancient castle. It is a delightfully picturesque town, with narrow streets leading to the river. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in which to try the local cuisine and a brewery which produces superb local beers. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Early evening arrival in Bouillon for a four night stay. DAYS 2 TO 4 - Free to relax and enjoy the A following included walks: Get your bearings in Bouillon - Enjoy a morning guided walking tour of the town with the rest of the day free to explore. One of the prettiest walks is through the woods along `the old French route' to the French border. For more history on Bouillon a visit to the `Archeoscope' is a must (approx. 1½ hours' walk). Semois Valley - Full day including a walk from nearby Rochehaut to the village of Poupehan. We then drive to Botassart and a local beauty spot known as the `Giant's Tomb'. After a picnic lunch (at extra cost) our walk continues following the trails of the `wooden sculptures' to the Abbey of Cordemois, where we stop for a brief visit. Finally, you have the option of either walking back to the hotel or joining our coach transfer (approx. 4 hours' walk). Ourthe Valley - A full day excursion to the Ourthe Valley where our first walk is at Houffalize, the site of the Nisramont Dam where we'll take a walk through the nature reserve (approx. 2½ hours' walk). The afternoon will be spent in the pretty town of La Roche-enArdennes where you can enjoy one of the local walking trails or simply relax in a typical café and try the local speciality, Ardennes cured ham. DAY 5 - Depart after breakfast for a late A afternoon crossing back to the UK and continue to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay at the popular four star rated Hotel de la Poste, centrally located in Bouillon by the River Semois. This historic hotel, with many of its original features tastefully restored, has a relaxing ambience, a wonderful setting and is an ideal place to unwind with your fellow travellers at the end of each enjoyable day. The hotel has a bar, restaurant, lift and all bedrooms are tastefully furnished with private facilities, TV and telephone.

Walking Information
Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks. Grade 1 Walks These are for anyone of any age. Plenty of rest stops and time to enjoy the local scenery with up to 4 hours walking a day, mostly on good paths but occasionally rough underfoot. Ascent less than 300m per day.
