The renowned Champagne region of northern France has been producing the world's most famous wine for the past 400 years. Discover the history and beautiful rolling countryside of the area on our included walks and visit the cellars of two of France's finest champagne producers.
This super break introduces you to the historic city of Reims. You'll also enjoy our included visits to two champagne cellars, plus walks through Reims, picturesque nearby towns and the vineyards of the Marne Valley. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Early evening arrival at your hotel in Reims for a three night stay. DAY 2 - This morning we include a walking tour A of Reims, where you will find the Basilica of St. Remi, Tau Palace and the Roman Forum. You will then visit the Mumm Champagne Cellars, revealing the art of making champagne, with a tasting included. Afternoon free for you to explore Reims. DAY 3 - Today there is an included full day A excursion through Champagne country. Take a paddle boat cruise along the River Marne from the village of Cumieres, passing through the wine producing villages of Damery, Vauciennes, Venteuil and Boursault, before visiting the Mercier Cellars. Tour this labyrinth of cellars almost 100ft below the ground on a laser-guided train, before returning to the surface for a champagne tasting. Pass through Epernay, the `Capital of Champagne', so named because of the thousands of bottles of champagne ageing in caves below the ground. Your day will end with a visit to the charming village of Hautvillers, home of the Benedictine Abbey where the monk Dom Perignon first developed champagne. DAY 4 - Depart for Calais and a late afternoon A crossing to the UK. Continue to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay in a comfortable medium grade hotel such as the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in the centre of Reims. The hotel is just a short walk from the cathedral and features a restaurant, bar and lift. All bedrooms have private facilities, telephone and TV.

DAYS 1 TO 3 - As per the main itinerary. DAY 4 - Travel to Paris for an overnight stay. On arrival in Paris take an included tour of the famous sights of the city, including the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, the Lourve, Notre Dame and the Champs Elysees. Spend some time exploring independently before the coach takes you to your hotel. DAY 5 - Depart for Calais and the return crossing to the UK. Continue to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL IN PARIS For your overnight stay in Paris, you will stay in a comfortable medium grade hotel in the city suburbs, such as the popular Hotel Campanile at Gennevilliers, a Travelsphere favourite. All bedrooms have private facilities, telephone and TV. Accommodation will be on a bed and breakfast basis.
