It is a region with a rich heritage and fabulous scenery. The coastline is stunning, with rugged coves, quaint fishing ports and sweeping sandy bays around established seaside resorts. In contrast, inland Brittany contains peaceful valleys, forests, rolling green countryside and pretty medieval villages with half-timbered houses. Discover this delightful region and visit Mont St. Michel, the picturesque Loire Valley and take a panoramic tour of Paris. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Continue to your overnight stop in the Caen area of northern France on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Our journey continues through the A Normandy region to the picturesque medieval settlement of Le Mont St. Michel, elegantly seated on a 250ft granite island ­ its silhouette is one of the most enchanting sights in France. After free time here we continue into the heart of Brittany and the town of Le Bono, located approximately 10 miles from Vannes, for a four night stay on a half board basis. This delightful old fishing port has a small selection of shops and bars, and is the ideal base from which to explore Brittany. DAY 3 - Free to relax in the hotel's pleasant A surroundings, take a walk into Le Bono or make use of the hotel facilities. Late morning join our optional excursion to Vannes, visiting pretty Rochefort-enTerre en route. Vannes is a place of architectural and historical interest, once the residence of the Dukes of Burgundy. With its delightful harbour front and well preserved medieval centre, it is one of the finest old towns in Brittany. DAY 4 - Free to relax and enjoy our optional A three-quarter day excursion, first visiting the pretty port of St.Gustan, followed by a visit to the famous prehistoric site at Carnac, where almost 3,000 ancient granite rocks are arranged in mysterious lines and patterns. We continue to the lovely fishing port of Quiberon, situated at the end of a narrow peninsula and surrounded by sandy beaches and a wild coastline. Enjoy the sea air as you stroll through the narrow streets lined with fishermen's houses. We return to the hotel via the scenic Côte Sauvage coastal route. DAY 5 - Today we offer an optional full day A excursion to the charming medieval town of Josselin, dominated by its impressive château where we take a guided tour. In the afternoon we visit a farm to taste some of the local produce such as paté and cider. DAY 6 - Time to leave Brittany and head back A through the lovely Loire Valley, calling at the delightful town of Tours with its wide 18th century avenues and café-lined boulevards. After time for lunch our journey continues to the outskirts of Paris for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 7 - A final highlight is an included A panoramic tour of Paris before continuing to Calais and a late afternoon crossing back to the UK, returning to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay for four nights at the Best Western Hostellerie Abbatiale. The hotel is situated within its own extensive grounds and a 30 minute walk from the centre of Le Bono. Parts of the hotel date back to 1427 and there is a modern extension where we are accommodated.Hotel amenities include a bar, restaurant, lounge, outdoor swimming pool, lift and tennis court. All bedrooms are comfortably furnished and feature private facilities, TV and telephone.
