Come and join us for a fun-filled holiday in beautiful Bavaria, with its spectacular scenery and enchanting villages. With half board accommodation in a charming village near Bamberg, included extras such as a wine tasting, and traditional German hospitality, it's great value and great fun!
Your base is Markt Taschendorf, a small village set in the heart of the beautiful Steigerwald nature park between Würzburg and Nuremberg. It's the ideal location for exploring the surrounding area known as Franconia, with half-timbered houses and historic churches, wonderful gastronomy and, of course, Bavarian hospitality. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Continue through Belgium into Germany and on to your hotel in the Koblenz area for an overnight stay including breakfast. DAY 2 - We enjoy a scenic drive along the A Rhine Gorge and on to Markt Taschendorf, just south-west of Bamberg. Arrive at your hotel early evening for a four night stay. Welcome drink and dinner. DAY 3 - Included three-quarter day excursion to A the historic town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Enjoy a walking tour in the company of a local guide. There are plenty of attractions in the town, such as the unique German Christmas shop, a wonderful Doll and Toy Museum, and even a Crime Museum! You will also find an excellent range of shops, bars and restaurants waiting to be discovered as you explore the narrow streets and wide squares. DAY 4 - Join our optional full day excursion to A the delightful medieval town of Bamberg, where the old Town Hall is uniquely positioned on the Regnitz River linked to the banks by a bridge. See the quaint cluster of fishermen's houses of Little Venice, before continuing to Coburg, the birthplace of Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert. We visit the impressive castle of Veste Coburg, one of the largest castles in Germany, dating back to the 16th century. DAY 5 - Optional three-quarter day excursion A to Nuremberg, Bavaria's second largest city with its lovely old town and half-timbered houses dominated by the enormous Imperial Castle. Lovingly restored after WWII, there are many historical attractions such as the famous Männleinlaufen Clock, the Town Hall with medieval torture chambers and the Gänsemännchen Fountain. DAY 6 - Depart after breakfast for your journey A to the Aachen area for a final overnight stop including breakfast. DAY 7 - Continue to Calais for a late afternoon A crossing to the UK, returning to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL The comfortable, family-run Landgasthof Wellmann in Markt Taschendorf has a restaurant, bar, terrace and its own vineyard. All bedrooms have private facilities and TV. Please note there is no lift in this hotel.
