This marvellous ten day holiday features a seven night stay on the shores of Italy's magnificent Lake Garda, overnight hotel stops in France, a spectacular drive through the Alps and an included visit to Verona.
Lake Garda is one of the most popular destinations in our brochure and with good reason, for there is something for everyone. The spectacular setting of Italy's largest lake, surrounded by mountains, never fails to inspire. You'll enjoy touring the lake shore, taking a boat trip or even swimming in the crystal clear waters. We stay in the delightful lakeside resort of Riva del Garda. There is a selection of shops, bars and restaurants and simply relaxing in a waterfront café watching the ferry boats sail to and fro is one of the most enjoyable ways to spend an hour or two. Our superb excursion programme will show you the best of this beautiful region. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Continue to your overnight stop in the Strasbourg area of France on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Continue your journey via Switzerland A and the St. Gotthard Tunnel into Italy, arriving at Riva del Garda, in the early evening for a seven night stay. DAYS 3 TO 8 - Free to relax and enjoy our A excursion programme. The following half day excursion is included: Verona - This beautiful city has been on most `must see' lists ever since Shakespeare wrote `Romeo and Juliet'. One of Italy's finest cities, Verona offers a host of attractions for both shopper and sightseer alike. The following excursions are optional: Venice - Enjoy a full day excursion to this extraordinary and unique city. Sit and soak up the atmosphere in one of the many cafés lining St. Mark's Square, take a stroll over the Rialto Bridge to explore the Rialto Market and shops, or perhaps take a gondola ride through the hidden backwaters of the network of canals. Lake Garda - A full day tour to see some of the beauty spots of this fabulous lake, surrounded by its lush groves of olives, vines and citrus trees. We visit the delightful lakeside resort of Sirmione and include a boat trip. Dolomites - This full day tour takes you along the Great Dolomites Road, through some dramatic Alpine landscapes used by many Hollywood film makers, with jagged snow-capped peaks and colourful meadows alive with wild flowers. Cliffhanger Lunch - A half day trip to Tremosine, a resort high above Limone for a `cliffhanger' lunch, so called because of the `Balcony of Thrills' setting with panoramic views over the lake. DAY 9 - Sadly time to leave the shores of Lake A Garda and begin your journey back through Switzerland and into France for your final night's stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 10 - Continue to Calais for a late afternoon A crossing back to the UK, returning to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay in the comfortable Hotel Brione in Riva del Garda. The hotel is situated just a few minutes' walk from the popular marina and lakeshore and the town centre is a pleasant stroll along the promenade. Hotel facilities include a lounge, bar, two lifts, restaurant, garden, sun terrace and outdoor swimming pool. All bedrooms are comfortably furnished and feature private facilities, satellite TV and telephone. On one evening during the week there will be a special Gala dinner with live music and dancing.
