Enjoy the legendary beauty of the lakes of northern Italy, which have welcomed discerning holidaymakers since well before the turn of the century. Our ever-popular holiday to Lake Maggiore includes a seven night stay at a lakeside, family-run hotel, in picturesque Pallanza.
The resort nestles along the western shore of the lake and has many examples of fine old buildings warmed and mellowed by the sun for more than three hundred summers. As you stroll through the old town and enjoy the panoramic views across the lake, your abiding memory will be of the sight and scent of flowers particularly the magnolias and oleanders. The renowned botanical gardens of the Villa Taranto are a short walk from the hotel and the enchanting Borromean Islands, including Isola Bella, are a delightful boat trip across the lake. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Continue to your overnight stop in northern France on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Continue south through the spectacular A Swiss Alps into Italy to arrive early evening in the resort of Pallanza, on Lake Maggiore for a seven night stay. DAYS 3 TO 8 - Free to relax and enjoy our A optional excursion programme: Lake Maggiore & the Borromean Islands - A full day tour to see Maggiore's scenic beauty, with a boat trip to the Borromean Islands.

end of the Anzasca Valley. Bring your camera for remarkable views of nearby Mount Rosa (15,220ft). Zermatt - A full day tour over the border into Switzerland to this fabulous resort. After our scenic coach trip we take a short train ride to arrive in the pedestrianised village of Zermatt overlooked by the mighty Matterhorn. Lake Orta & Omegna Market - A half day tour to perhaps the most idyllic of the Italian lakes, Lake Orta, where we include a visit to the popular and traditional outdoor market at Omegna. Centovalli - A full day excursion featuring a scenic railway journey (approx. 90 mins) through the fascinating `hundred valleys' to Locarno with ferry boat trip back to Pallanza. DAY 9 - Time to leave Italy and head back A through Switzerland to northern France for a final overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 10 - Continue to Calais for a late afternoon A crossing back to the UK, returning to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay in the traditional lakeside Hotel Europalace in Pallanza.This family run three star hotel, is only yards from the lakeshore and a few minutes' walk to the centre of Pallanza. The comfortably furnished bedrooms all have telephone, satellite TV and private facilities. Hotel amenities include a bar, restaurant, small TV lounge area and a lift.
