This popular weekend break takes you to the beautiful scenery of historic Luxembourg. We include an excursion to `Little Switzerland' and you'll enjoy friendly hospitality in charming Vianden, in the heart of the Ardennes.
The pretty town of Vianden is possibly the most strikingly situated town in this region of Europe. Nestling in the heart of the Ardennes region, hemmed in by woods all around, cut through by the River Our and watched over by a medieval castle, Vianden is a truly remarkable spot. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning A crossing to Calais. Early evening arrival in Vianden for a three night stay. DAYS 2 & 3 - Free to relax and enjoy our A excursion programme. The following excursions are included: Vianden - Familiarise yourself on our guided walk around the village including entrance and tour of the castle. Little Switzerland & Echternach - A half day tour of the most scenic area of Luxembourg, the Mullerthal. With its bizarre rock formations, dense forests and gushing rivers, it deserves its nickname as Luxembourg's `Little Switzerland'. We also stop in the beautiful town of Echternach, which, with its narrow streets, ancient ramparts and old Benedictine Abbey, retains a remarkable medieval atmosphere. The following excursion is optional: Luxembourg City - A full day tour to see the best of the southern region of Luxembourg. We visit Luxembourg City, one of the most dramatically situated cities in Europe. You will have a guided tour of this remarkable city which has existed since Roman times and been influenced over the last five centuries by numerous foreign invaders. DAY 4 - Depart after breakfast for a late A afternoon crossing back to the UK and continue to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay at the comfortable medium grade family-run Grand Hotel de Vianden, centrally situated in this picturesque town. Your hosts the Peverelli family will ensure you have a most enjoyable stay. Hotel amenities include a restaurant, bar, lift, terrace, sauna and solarium. All bedrooms are comfortably furnished and feature private facilities and TV.
