This exciting holiday takes you by high-speed rail system through France to reach the Spanish region of Catalonia, with its stunning coastline set against a backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea. All excursions are included as well as convenient stopovers in France in each direction.
YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Morning departure from London St. Pancras or Ebbsfleet on the Eurostar service to France. Changing at Paris Gare Du Nord, you join the celebrated French TGV service which will whisk you southwards at up to 186mph to Perpignan, just 13 miles from the Spanish border. Early evening arrival in Perpignan and transfer to a centrally situated hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. DAY 2 - Enjoy free time in the compact old town with its narrow streets and ornate buildings before leaving by coach and crossing into Spain, and the region of Catalonia. We visit the medieval towns of Besalú, with its striking approach across a fortified bridge and Gerona, with its old town and the Rambla de la Llibertat lined with shops and street cafés, before arriving at our hotel in Tossa de Mar for a seven night stay. DAYS 3 TO 8 - The Costa Brava is a delightful stretch of Catalonian coastline, with charming fishing villages and tourist resorts. The attractive town of Tossa de Mar has a rich history, with an unspoilt old town, lovely sandy beaches and promenade. There is a good selection of restaurants, bars and amenities in the town. While in Tossa de Mar, you will be free to relax and enjoy our included excursion programme: Barcelona - A full day excursion to one of Europe's most exciting cities and the capital of Catalonia. Wander down the exciting Las Ramblas, or visit the awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia, designed by Gaudi and still being built. Montserrat - A three-quarter day tour to the famous cliff-side monastery, which dates back to 1844, the original having been destroyed during the war of independence. Coastline Tour - A three-quarter day tour along the spectacular coast including a visit to the traditional Spanish town of Sant Feliu de Guixols. DAY 9 - Transfer back to Perpignan for the lunchtime TGV departure to Lyon Part Dieu, where arrival will be late afternoon. Overnight accommodation on a half board basis. Situated between two hills and at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône, Lyon is the noted gastronomic capital of France. DAY 10 - Morning at leisure before rejoining the TGV service to Lille, then the Eurostar back to Ebbsfleet or St. Pancras. YOUR HOTEL You will stay at the Hotel Golden Bahia in the resort of Tossa de Mar, around 10 minutes' walk from the beach. Hotel amenities include a bar, restaurant, lift, rooftop terrace, jacuzzi, four swimming pools and shop. All air-conditioned bedrooms feature private facilities, telephone and satellite TV.
