Travel by high-speed Eurostar and French TGV rail services to the lovely Languedoc-Roussillon region in south-west France. Enjoy a memorable stay exploring the beautiful coastline, stunning scenery, historic towns and villages from your base near charming Montpellier. We return to the UK via the romantic city of Paris for an overnight stay a delightful finale to this great value holiday.
This area of France is simply packed with superb sights, with Roman remains, the incredible landscapes of the Camargue and Languedoc, historic towns such as Nîmes and Arles, and the astounding Millau Viaduct, a true modern wonder. Our programme of included excursions will show you the best of these fabulous attractions. impressive Roman remains, including the amphitheatre and a superbly preserved temple, the Maison Carrée. Continue to Arles on the River Rhône and the unique Camargue, famous for its lagoons, marshes and wildlife. DAY 6 - Transfer to Béziers to join the `Aubrac' train for the journey to Paris. The trip takes you through beautiful scenery and over the Garabit Viaduct, built by Gustave Eiffel, to ClermontFerrand. Pass through Vichy and Nevers, arriving early evening at Paris Lyon station. Transfer to your Paris hotel for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 7 - Morning free to explore Paris, go sightseeing or visit the superb shops. Mid-afternoon departure from Paris Gare du Nord for your return journey to the UK, arriving early evening at Ashford and London St Pancras. YOUR HOTELS You will stay in the comfortable Hotel Neptune in the Port de Plaisance area of Carnon, just outside Montpellier. Amenities include the Trident Restaurant, a bar, lifts and swimming pool. All the comfortable bedrooms have private facilities, TV and telephone. Accommodation in Paris is at the three star Novotel Paris Vaugirard or similar.

YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart from London St. Pancras or Ashford on the Eurostar service to Lille (passengers in Leisure Select class will enjoy a meal and drinks served at their seat). Change to the TGV service to Montpellier. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a five night stay. DAYS 2 TO 5 - Free for you to relax or join our four included excursions by coach: Millau Viaduct & Pont du Gard - A full day tour featuring an unforgettable crossing over the Millau Viaduct. This incredible structure is the world's tallest road bridge, with a deck nearly 900 feet above the River Tarn. Continue to the spectacular Pont du Gard, a three-tier aqueduct built by the Romans, who used no mortar in its construction. Montpellier & Sete - A full day excursion featuring a panoramic sightseeing tour around the charming city of Montpellier, where sights include the Place de la Comédie, the Arc de Triomphe, tree-lined promenades and historic buildings, before continuing to Sète on the Thau Lagoon, famous for its superb oyster beds. Minerve & Carcassonne - A full day of sightseeing opportunities we visit Minerve, a picturesque village above the confluence of the Rivers Briant and Cesse. The village is filled with historical relics, including the Saint-Etienne Church and the Candela, an octagonal tower which is all that remains of the village's castle. Continue to Carcassonne, where you can explore the superb citadel, whose huge ramparts and towers still watch over the city.
