The Italian lakes of Maggiore, Garda and Ledro are among the most beautiful regions in Europe. This super holiday allows you to discover the truly awe inspiring scenery, with a programme of superb included excursions.
This great holiday is packed with scenic sights. From the shores of Lake Maggiore, you'll enjoy splendid walks through the foothills of the Alps, offering wonderful views. We also include a boat trip to the picturesque Borromean Islands. The area surrounding Lake Maggiore is idyllic, rich in pastel coloured buildings, terraced gardens and clear waters which change from a jade green in the north to a deep blue in the south. Then it's on to Lake Garda, and the stunning surroundings of the towering Dolomites mountains. Garda is the largest of the Italian lakes and one of Europe's most acclaimed beauty spots. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Deaprt on your flight to Milan. On arrival, transfer to your Lake Maggiore hotel for a three night stay. DAY 2 - Today enjoy an included trip up the mountain followed later by a delightful boat trip on the lake. We begin with a cable car ride up to Mount Mottorone, 4,500ft above the resort of Stresa, for a walk along the valley ridges. The views here are spectacular, and on a clear day you can see seven lakes! In the afternoon there's an included boat trip on Lake Maggiore to the delightful Borromean Islands, with a visit to the wonderful palace and gardens on Isola Bella (approx. 3 hours' walk). DAY 3 - An included three-quarter day trip, featuring a drive through the picturesque Anzasca Valley to the Alpine resort of Macugnaga. From here we take a lovely walk along the local trails in the foothills of majestic Monte Rosa (approx. 2 hours' walk). DAY 4 - Morning transfer by coach to your Lake Garda hotel for a four night stay. En route visit Sirmione, one of the prettiest resorts on the lake. DAY 5 - Enjoy our included three-quarter day trip, taking the cable car up to Monte Baldo, 5,775ft above Malcesine, to take in the superb views. On our return we stop midway at San Michele for a scenic walk along the Panorama Strada back to Malcesine, where you will have free time to explore the resort or perhaps visit the famous Scaglieri Castle (extra cost) beautifully situated on the edge of the lake (approx. 3 hours' walk). DAY 6 - Today we take an included threequarter day excursion to Lake Ledro. This wonderful unspoilt alpine lake, set against verdant mountain slopes, is the ideal location for a leisurely walk (approx. 2 hours' walk). DAY 7 - A spectacular included full day excursion takes you through the dramatic scenery of the Dolomites mountains. The region is famous for its jagged snow-capped peaks, deep gorges, and rolling valleys. You will also have free walking time in the lovely Val di Fassa area (approx. 1½ hours' walk). DAY 8 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. YOUR HOTELS You will stay in comfortable three star hotels on or near the lakes, such as the Hotel Aries in Lesa on Maggiore and the Hotel Villa Alberta in Torbole on Garda. Hotels have a bar and restaurant and all bedrooms feature private facilities, TV and telephone.

Walking Information
Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks. Grade 1 Walks These are for anyone of any age. Plenty of rest stops and time to enjoy the local scenery with up to 4 hours walking a day, mostly on good paths but occasionally rough underfoot. Ascent less than 300m per day. Grade 2 Walks These are moderate, for anyone who is comfortable walking hills. Still plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery, however up to 5 hours walking a day on slightly more rugged terrain. Ascent less than 500m per day.
