YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to Bangkok. DAY 2 - Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to your hotel for a three night stay. This afternoon there is the option to take a Rice Barge Cruise. Starting with a thrilling express boat ride through the canals of Bangkok, you will leave the city behind as you head into the countryside. You'll swap the express boat for a converted rice barge and a cruise along the Chao Phraya River, where there will be plenty of opportunity to observe the passing scenery and local life as you relax with cold drinks and tropical fruits. DAY 3 - This morning we include an excursion to the Grand Palace, one of the most beautiful examples of the ancient Siamese court, where the kings of Bangkok once resided. Here you will see palaces for all different occasions and the exquisite Emerald Buddha Temple. Spectacular detail is everywhere you turn. Look out for the tiered, Thai-style roofs, towering statues and intricate golden details on walls and pillars. Construction of this stunning set of buildings began in the late 18th-century, and it includes a monastery, royal residence, galleries and court houses. Although some of the buildings are not open to the public, this somehow adds to the intrigue of the place. You will proceed to the famous Rose Gardens for lunch, followed by a show where many aspects of Thai culture are on display, including Thai boxing, folk dancing, working elephants and monks' ordination ceremonies. DAY 4 - Free in Bangkok for individual sightseeing and shopping. An optional excursion will be available to visit Kanchanaburi on the River Kwai, site of the infamous bridge and the start of the Death Railway'. The drive from Bangkok is a fascinating one through rice fields and sugar cane plantations and the tour includes a ride on the railway itself. DAY 5 - This morning you are free in Bangkok, before transferring to the airport for your afternoon flight to Hong Kong, where you will stay for three nights. DAY 6 - This morning we include a sightseeing tour of Hong Kong Island. Start the day with a
