VICTORIA PEAK
Hong Kong is an exciting, vibrant and colourful city of dramatic contrasts. Towering skyscrapers, monuments to Hong Kong's development as a world financial centre, form the backdrop to the busy harbour, where traditional junks still ply the waters, while street markets remain untouched by western influences and still provide an intoxicating taste of mystique and intrigue. At night the city is ablaze with neon signs, their reflections shimmering in the harbour. It's also a culinary delight and the shopping and nightlife are legendary.
DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to Hong Kong. DAY 2 - On arrival in Hong Kong transfer to your hotel for a four night stay. DAY 3 - This morning we include a sightseeing tour of Hong Kong Island. Start the day with a drive to the top of Victoria Peak, named after Queen Victoria, for a fantastic view down on to the city, the harbour, the surrounding islands and even across to China and Macau. You will also pay a visit to Repulse Bay, where you will find Hong Kong's most famous beach, with soft sand and water that you can swim in. This is a lovely place to sit and watch the sun set. The Repulse Bay area is easily accessible from the city centre by bus and is also a major centre for shopping and entertainment. Continue to the floating village of Aberdeen, home to a thriving community of 30,000 people, living in a variety of junks, sampans and boats. Aberdeen is also host to some fabulous seafood restaurants. DAYS 4 & 5 - Hong Kong is incredibly easy to get around, thanks to excellent public transport links. Why not take the famous Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour between Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon peninsula for fantastic views of the Hong Kong skyline. In Kowloon take a walk along the Avenue of the Stars, Hong Kong's alternative to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This is an ideal vantage point to enjoy the nightly spectacle of A Symphony of Lights, where more than 35 buildings on both sides of the harbour light up in time to music played at certain vantage points along the harbour. Search lights and laser beams illuminate the sky for this fascinating performance, recorded as the world's Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show in the Guinness Book of World Records.
