You will journey through breathtaking landscape in the lush heartland of this diverse South-East Asian country, from the bustling capital, Kuala Lumpur, to the relaxing waters of Penang. Along the way you will discover unspoilt jungles, palm-fringed beaches and charming fishing villages. This really is a holiday to remember! YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to Kuala Lumpur. DAY 2 - Arrival in Kuala Lumpur. Transfer to the your hotel for a three night stay. DAY 3 - This morning we include a sightseeing tour of Kuala Lumpur. The capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is an exciting, buzzing city that began life in the mid-1900's as a trading post for Chinese tin miners. The modern skyscrapers rub shoulders with traditional culture and colonial architecture. Your sightseeing tour will feature visits to Karyaneka Handicraft Centre, the National Monument and Cenotaph. Photo stops will also be made at many of the major sites including the Petronas Towers, the Gate of the King's Palace and the National Mosque. This is followed by a visit to a batik factory to learn how the various types of Malaysian batik are produced. Finally you will call in at the world's largest pewter factory, Royal Selangor. DAY 4 - Included excursion to the city of Malacca, which is a living museum, testimony to its colourful past of Malay Sultanates, Portuguese, Dutch and English colonists. It is a city built in a series of twisting, turning alleys along a river. See A Formosa, the only remaining gate of a once formidable Portuguese fortress built in 1511 and the oldest surviving European architectural remains in Asia, St. Paul's Hill, the Dutch Square and Chinese Hill. After lunch you will also visit the Cheng Hoon Teng temple, which follows the principles of feng shui. This is followed by a stroll through the street of antiques. DAY 5 - Today you will take the scenic drive to the laid-back resort of Cherating, famous for its 12 mile white sandy beach, for an overnight stay. You'll find plenty of shops selling batik and other handicrafts along Cherating's main street, along with bars and restaurants. DAY 6 - Visit a sugar palm maker to learn how this traditional dessert sweetener is prepared. Next, visit a pandanus weaving centre to see beautiful mats, hats, bags and handicrafts items being made. A stop will be made at the Turtle Information Centre, then on to Kuala Terengganu and an overnight stay.
