All rooms feature private facilities and hotel facilities include restaurant and bar. In Beijing you will stay in a hotel such as the Friendship Hotel, featuring rooms with private facilities, TV, telephone and air-conditioning. Hotel facilities include restaurant, bar, money exchange and laundry facilities. Your Train Accommodation will be in four-berth, soft class compartments, with washing facilities and toilet at the end of each carriage. Suitability The trains that operate over this vast distance can be around 18 to 20 carriages in length, with the dining car sometimes (but not always!) in the centre. At meal times this can involve quite a lengthy walk there and back, opening and shutting doors between carriages on a fast moving train. At stations you will have to carry your luggage some distance along the platforms when boarding and alighting  the low platforms and high steps onto the train carriage will cause problems to anyone who has mobility limitations. The famous travel author and train traveller Eric Newby put the trip in a nutshell: There is no railway journey of comparable length anywhere in the world. The Trans-Siberian is THE big train ride. All the rest are peanuts. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to Moscow. On arrival transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. DAY 2 - Moscow is a city of immense contrasts  on the one hand a city with many buildings of great historical and architectural value  and on the other hand, a modern vibrant city with a population of over eight million. Today we invite you to join our included panoramic tour of this fascinating city. You will visit Moscow's main attractions, including the Kremlin, with its cathedrals and Armoury, Red Square, St Basil's Cathedral, Novodevichy Convent, and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. Lunch is also included. After dinner transfer to Moscow's Yaroslavskaya station and board a Trans-Siberian train service at the start of the 5,624 mile journey to Beijing. The first stage is a four day journey across five time zones to Irkutsk. DAYS 3 TO 5 - These days are spent aboard the train with all meals taken in the dining car. You can also buy food from the babushkas' (grannies) on the platforms at stations. The train operates to Moscow time throughout, but the dining car keeps to local time for its meal service.
