Its then on to the Memorial Chorten  or mound  built in memory of the third king, and the National Library. After lunch, you will visit a local handicrafts emporium, where there will be the opportunity to buy some keepsakes to remind you of this fascinating country. We also include a sightseeing tour of Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan. This evening, you will pay a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the impressive 17th century fortress that houses Bhutans government. DAY 7 - This morning you will take a drive across the absolutely stunning Dochula Pass to Punakha, the capital of Bhutan until 1955. Weather permitting, the views as you cross the pass are incomparable. In Punahaka, which sits at an altitude of 1,200m, you will take lunch at Wangdiphodrang and then visit Punakha Dzong. Built in the 17th century, this is said to be the most beautiful Dzong in Bhutan. You will also pay a visit to Punakha High School before transferring to your hotel for an overnight stay. DAY 8 - This morning, leave Punakha behind as you take the return drive to Thimphu, where you will stop for lunch. After lunch, you then continue to Paro, where overnight accommodation has been arranged. This evening you will visit the colourful Paro Bazaar, where youll have the opportunity to purchase some of Bhutans beautiful handmade artefacts. DAY 9 - Transfer to Paro airport for your flight out of Bhutan to Kathmandu, where you will stay overnight. DAY 10 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. AlTITUDE During this tour you will travel to altitudes of over 5,500ft. This should not be a problem, although everyone should take it easy at first.
