We include a guided walking tour of the old town and an excursion into the surrounding area. You will drive through Tibetan village communities to Bita Lake visiting the 300 year old Sumtsenling Monastery, one of the most significant in all China. On the return drive, you will stop at a Tibetan household, with farm animals on the ground floor and the family upstairs, complete with prayer room. DAY 9 - Morning transfer to Zhongdian airport for the flight, via Kunming, to Beijing. Transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. DAY 10 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. As you are flying westwards, your arrival will be later the same day. AlTITUDE During this tour you will travel to altitudes of over 12,000ft. This should not be a problem, although everyone should take it easy at first. If you suffer from heart or respiratory conditions or have any other concerns please consult your doctor.

This special departure takes you on a stunning drive to Dequin. A relatively unspoilt Tibetan town in the Yunnan province, a wonderful addition to the main tour. YOUR ITINERARY DAYS 1 TO 8 - As the main itinerary. DAY 9 - Leave Zhongdian on the drive through the beautiful scenery of the Diqing Prefecture to the town of Dequin, stopping to visit the Dongzhulin Temple en route. Overnight stay in Dequin. DAY 10 - Rise early this morning to watch the sun rise over snow-capped mountains, before making the journey to Feilai Temple. Combine your holiday with this special departure to the Wolong Nature Reserve in the Sichuan Province, home of the Giant Panda. YOUR ITINERARY DAYS 1 TO 8 - As per the main itinerary. DAY 9 - Fly from Zhongdian to Chengdu via Kunming this morning. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. DAY 10 - Travel to the Wolong nature Reserve, for an overnight night stay close to the Panda Sanctuary. This afternoon you will visit the Sanctuary. DAY 11 - This morning drive to the nearby town of Wolong itself where you can visit the Panda Museum before the drive back to Chengdu for an overnight stay. DAY 12 - This morning visit the Chengdu Panda research base before your return flight to Beijing and an overnight stay. DAY 13 - Morning transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. As you will be flying westwards your arrival in the UK is later the same day. YOUR HOTElS You will stay in the Tibet hotel in Chengdu and the Panda inn in Wolong or similar offering simple accommodation.
