YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your overnight scheduled flight to Cape Town. DAY 2 - Arrival in Cape Town. There will be a short orientation tour of the city prior to transferring to your hotel for a three night stay. Rest of the day is free to relax. Cape Town was founded in 1652 as a victualling station for ships of the Dutch East India Company. Today it is one of the world's most beautiful cities. It enjoys an incomparable setting between the sparkling Atlantic Ocean and the majestic backdrop of Table Mountain, one of the world's best known landmarks. DAY 3 - Today there will be a half day optional excursion to the Winelands. This spectacular tour takes you through the vineyard covered valleys and along scenic country roads. Wine tasting is included. DAY 4 - Today we have included a full day excursion. The first stop will be for the cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain for breathtaking views of the Cape. This will be followed by the dramatic journey to the Cape of Good Hope. Visits will be made to Simon's Town and the splendid Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before returning to Cape Town. DAY 5 - Depart Cape Town and drive to the charming town of Swellendam where a visit to the local museum is included before arriving in Oudtshoorn for an overnight stay at the Queens Hotel. A stop will also be made in Hermanus during the whale season (Sept-Nov). DAY 6 - Today there will be an included sightseeing tour of the area around the fascinating town of Oudtshoorn. This includes the spectacular Cango Caves and a guided visit to an Ostrich Farm. This afternoon continue to Knysna where two nights' accommodation has been arranged at the Log Inn. The Garden Route, stretching eastwards to Port Elizabeth, is one of the world's most beautiful coastlines. It encompasses bays and beaches, towering cliffs, mountain ranges, forests, rivers and a coastal terrace adorned with magnificent trees and flowering plants. DAY 7 - Enjoy an included cruise on the Knysna Lagoon today (weather permitting). This beautiful lagoon is technically an estuary that boasts good fishing opportunities, and if you keep your eyes open, you may see some of the birdlife that make their home on the waters edge. DAY 8 - Take a scenic drive along the Garden Route including a photo stop at Plettenberg Bay. You will then be taken to the Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park with a chance to walk to the Storms River Bridge. DAY 9 - Continue through Zululand to Hluhluwe. Home of the magnificent Zulu Warriors since the beginning of the 17th century, and invaded by the British in 1879, Zululand remains a spectacular region of hills and valleys where traditional tribal life still predominates. Distinctive `beehive' and rondavel homes dot the landscape, which is also home to a marvellous variety of wildlife. A visit to a Zulu Kraal is included. Inland, the game reserves of Zululand are amongst the most impressive in South Africa.
