YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - This is Day 8 of your main tour. Depart for Ouarzazate via the 2,260 metre pass of Tizi-nTichka in the Upper Atlas Mountains. Continue to the famous Kasbah `Ait Ben Haddou' for a visit before arriving in Ouarzazate for an overnight stay. DAY 2 - We drive to Tinghir past Boumaine, the Dades Valley and El Kelaa Mi Gouna, famous for its annual rose festival. You will have lunch in a Bedouin tent. We continue eastwards through an increasingly desolate and barren landscape, broken only by the occasional oasis to the town of Erfoud `gateway to the Sahara' for dinner and an overnight stay.

At night Marrakech comes alive in a blaze of colour and activity as the food stalls, fire eaters, fortune tellers, magicians, acrobats, snake charmers and sounds fill the pavements and entertain the crowds around Djema El Fna square. Enjoy dinner at the hotel this evening. DAY 7 - Today you are free to relax or join our optional excursion to nearby Ourika Valley and the popular seaside resort of Essaioura. This evening you can enjoy an optional farewell dinner and spectacular show at Chez Ali Fantasia. A grand Moroccan meal will be served up under Royal Ceidal tents accompanied by local musical entertainments, a horse show and belly dancing display. DAY 8 - Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
Road of the Kasbahs Sahara Dunes at Merzouga

This wonderful add-on takes you to the outstanding scenery and colourful sights in the south of Morocco. Take in spectacular panoramic views from the Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass; visit Ouarzazate, created in 1928 by the French Foreign Legion; travel the road of the Kasbahs (fortified districts) past olive, orange and palm groves; take a camel ride to the top of the dunes in the Sahara Desert at Merzouga, an oasis resort, to see the magnificent sunrise; walk through the imposing Todhra Gorges at Tinghir and visit the old garrison town of Erfoud and `gateway to the Sahara'. You will have the chance to visit the Berber village of Ait Ben Haddou, a `fortified city' or ksar of earthen buildings crowded together and surrounded by defensive high walls. Situated on a hill at Souss-Massa-Draa in Ouarzazte province, it lies along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ait Ben Haddou is a striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco.
DAY 3 - We make an early start to drive south for about an hour in 4 x 4 vehicles to reach the sand dunes at Merzouga, which mark the start of the Sahara desert. Here we transfer to camels for the ascent to the top of the dunes to watch the sunrise. Afterwards we return to the hotel for breakfast, before driving back to Tinghir for lunch. This afternoon we visit the nearby Todra Gorges with the sheer rock faces towering 300 metres above you. We return to Tinghir for dinner and an overnight stay. DAY 4 - Today we drive back to Marrakech for an overnight stay, stopping for lunch en route at Ourzazate. This evening enjoy dinner at the hotel. DAY 5 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. YOUR HOTELS You will stay in good, centrally situated tourist class hotels, some with swimming pool.
