DAY 4 - We drive on this morning to the Great Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha, a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus in one of Kenya's prime agricultural regions. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked acacia trees, which is famous for its variety of birds. The shallow waters are a magnate for game. Giraffes wander among the trees, buffalo wallow in the swamps, Columbus monkeys chatter in the treetops and hippos rest in the shallows. Joy Adamson wrote her wonderful book Born Free while living on the shores of the lake. We arrive in time for lunch and you can enjoy a selection of optional excursions, including a boat trip on the lake itself, and perhaps visit nearby Oloidien and the green crater lake Sonachi, Hell's Gate National with its massive red tinged cliffs and bubbling springs, or the once notorious Djinn Palace from Happy Valley days. Enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at the Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge. DAY 5 - Morning drive to the famous Amboseli National Park on the Tanzanian border. Amboseli is located in a beautiful setting beneath the snowcapped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. This afternoon we take an included game drive in the park, which is particularly known for its fine elephant herds, buffalo and lion which wander freely, plus exotic birdlife. Overnight accommodation and dinner at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge. DAY 6 - Today we cross the border into Tanzania and head to Arusha for lunch. This is the safari capital of northern Tanzania, surrounded by the spectacular scenery of Mount Kilmanjaro and the smaller but still impressive Mount Meru. We continue to the Tarangire Lodge for an overnight stay. The lodge is set in the Tarangire National Park with its unique baobob trees and many herds of elephant. Dinner at the lodge. DAY 7 - Take an included game drive through Tarangire this morning, which is home to elephant herds and more, before breakfast at the lodge. We then drive on to the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge for a two night stay. DAY 8 - A wonderful day game viewing including half day in the Ngorongoro Crater, offering the chance to see an incredible variety of wildlife. You will descend into the crater in a four wheel drive vehicle. It is 7,5000ft above sea level and home to up to 25,000 large mammals, including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, lion, cheetah, rhino and leopard. Countless flamingos form a pink blanket over the soda lakes. DAY 9 - We head back to Arusha, then continue to Kilimanjaro airport for our return flight to the UK. DAY 10 - Arrival in the UK. ADD-ON Zanzibar 7 nights from only £699 Why not extend your holiday with a seven night stay on the beautiful island of Zanzibar where palm-fringed beaches are caressed by the waters of the Indian Ocean?
