DAY 3 - Morning arrival in the Northern Queensland city of Cairns, a lively seaside resort situated on the Great Barrier Reef. Transfer to your hotel for a four night stay. DAY 4 - The Great Barrier Reef has been described as the world's largest living thing and the eighth wonder of the world. It is a stupendous 1,400 mile wonderland of breathtakingly beautiful coral and colourful marine life, studded with unspoilt tropical islands. Today we offer a full day excursion by catamaran to the beautiful Frankland Island on the Great Barrier Reef with lunch included. The five Frankland Islands of High, Normanby, Mabel, Round and Russell are home to some beautiful wildlife. A truly unforgettable experience! DAYS 5 & 6 - Cairns enjoys an idyllic location, sandwiched between deep blue ocean and lush green tropical forests. It is the perfect retreat in which to spend time relaxing in the sunshine! Optional excursions include a visit to the fertile plateau of the Atherton Tablelands, featuring a ride on the Kuranda Railway, which is widely regarded as one of the world's most spectacular rail journeys. The track burrows through 15 tunnels and traverses 40 bridges as it clings to the rock face along a narrow coastal strip. DAY 7 - Transfer to the airport for the flight to Ayers Rock, also known by its Aboriginal name of Uluru, situated in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Upon arrival transfer to your nearby hotel for a two night stay. During the afternoon an excursion will be made to the mysterious Olgas, also known as Kata Tjuta, a nearby range of 28 spectacular rock domes. Ayers Rock is one of the world's most remarkable sights. This gigantic sandstone monolith is also a cherished Aboriginal shrine, and remains the property of the Anangu tribe of the Northern Territory. This evening we are at Ayers Rock for sunset. It is truly awe-inspiring to watch the sun set behind this beautiful natural feature. DAY 8 - Visit Ayers Rock for sunrise, and a chance for the more energetic to climb to the top! There will also be a tour of the base to see the caves and Aboriginal rock paintings. The rest of the day is free, with optional excursions available. Take an absolutely unforgettable scenic flight over Ayers Rock, offering you amazing views of this unique and haunting landmark. You can also join a guided tour to the Valley of the Winds. This fascinating excursion in the company of a local guide will show you the remarkable rock formations of the valley, and also features a sunset barbecue.
