For a supplement of only £399 you can extend your tour to include a visit to the vibrant and colourful city of Hong Kong for a four night stay.
Hong Kong, situated in its magnificent setting on the tip of the Chinese mainland, is a natural gateway to the Orient. Towering skyscrapers form the backdrop to the busy harbour, with its constant traffic of ferries, junks and seagoing vessels. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - This is Day 11 of the main itinerary. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Hong Kong. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a four night stay. DAY 2 - Today we include a morning sightseeing tour of Hong Kong Island. DAYS 3 & 4 - Free to relax or enjoy the optional excursions available. DAY 5 - Morning free prior to transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. DAY 6 - Arrival in the UK. YOUR HOTEL You will stay in the Island Pacific Hotel or similar, ideally located for Hong Kong's main attractions. Hotel amenities include café, restaurant, bar, outdoor swimming pool and gym. All bedrooms have private facilities, minibar, satellite TV, safe, air-conditioning and telephone.

Highlights include the thronging shopping thoroughfare of Nanjing Road, the traditional old town, with its ancient Wu Xing Ting Teahouse, and T the Yu Yuan Gardens, a classic Chinese garden. You will also visit the beautiful Jade Buddha Temple and T have time to stroll along the Bund. This evening there is an included visit to an Acrobatic Show. DAY 4 - Today you will be taken on a full day tour by train to Suzhou, situated on China's historic Grand Canal. This beautiful city is famous for its landscaped gardens, narrow canals and traditional Chinese architecture. Many of the gardens, known as far back as the 10th century, have been restored to their former glory. A full programme of sightseeing will include the Lingering Garden and the Humble Minister's Garden. There will also be time to see the local markets and stroll through the quaint streets. A cruise on the canal is also included, allowing you to experience the magical atmosphere of Suzhou at its very best. DAY 5 - Morning transfer to the airport for the flight to Wuhan. On arrival transfer to Yichang to join the ship for your four nights' cruise. DAYS 6 TO 8 - The cruise will begin with a visit to the site of the mighty Three Gorges Dam, the largest in the world, followed by passage through the four enormous ship locks. You then proceed upstream through the Xiling Gorge. The cruise continues through the Wuxia and Qutang Gorges. A stop will b e made in order to take a fascinating side trip up the Shennong Stream, a tributary of the Yangtze. DAY 9 - Morning arrival in Chongqing, located at the junction of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. Chongqing, situated on a high promontory overlooking the two rivers, is one of the most absorbing cities in all China, with its bustling water traffic, fascinating street life, lively markets and small restaurants famous for Sichuan cuisine. We have included a short city tour, prior to transferring to your hotel for an overnight stay. DAY 10 - Transfer to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. On arrival transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. DAY 11 - Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK. As you will be flying westwards your arrival is later the same day. YOUR MEALS Chinese cuisine is known throughout the world for its delicacy, variety and style. All meals are included whilst in China. Breakfast is western continental style followed by Chinese lunch and dinner, each consisting of a wide variety of tasty dishes. Beer and soft drinks are always available.

Aboard the Victoria Prince, or similar, you'll get to visit Nanjing, Huangshan (weather permitting), Wuhan, and the Hubei Provincial Museum and Yichang. Enjoy sailing through the Gezhou Dam, the Three Gorges Dam ship locks and the Wu Gorge followed by an included excursion to Fengdu before returning to Shanghai. All meals are included.
