ADD-ON SPECIAL DEPARTURE DAY 2 ­ Enjoy a tour of Shimla including the Mall, Tara Devi Temple and the Vice Regal Lodge. DAY 3 ­ Free day to relax and explore at your leisure. DAY 4 ­ Travel to Chandigarh railway station where a half day tour has been arranged, which includes a visit to the facinating Rock Garden. Then board the Shatabdi Express back to Delhi for your late evening flight home. DAY 5 ­ Arrive back in the UK. This add-on is available in conjunction with our 8 day tour of India (page 78-79.) Journey to Shimla 3 nights from only £449 Enjoy a fascinating journey by train to the hill station of Shimla, in the foothills of the Himalayas. DAY 1 ­ Transfer to New Delhi railway station to board the Himalayan Queen Express for Kalka where you'll change to the narrow gauge train, known as the Toy Train, to Shimla ­ the highlight of the trip. The journey is quite spectacular as the railway climbs to over 6000ft. Accomodation has been reserved at the five star luxurious Oberoi Cecil Hotel on a half board basis. Pushkar Camel Fair Including 2 nights in Pushkar from £1459 The town of Pushkar, around 90 miles from Jaipur, is famed for its sacred lake and annual Camel Fair, which takes place in November. The whole event is an explosion of colour and activity as the locals come to trade livestock and set up colourful stalls. It is certainly a lively and unforgettable experience. Jodphur is an oasis in the arid Thar desert and the second largest city in Rajasthan. Discover marble palaces, forts and temples here in this beautiful walled city. DAY 5 ­ En route to Udaipur, visit the Jain temples in Ranakpur which are nestled in a remote valley. DAY 6 ­ Once in Udaipur, enjoy a tour of the City of Lakes. Situated on the shores of Lake Pichola and surrounded by the green hills of the Aravalli, it is a wonderful spot. We enjoy a boat ride there. DAY 7 ­ Fly back to Delhi to catch our flight back to the UK. DAY 8 ­ Arrive back in the UK. This add-on is available in conjunction with the 8 day India tour (pages 78-79). DAY 2 ­ We drive to Jaisalmer today. Two nights' acommodation at the Fort Rajwada. DAY 3 ­ Enjoy a morning tour of Jaisalmer featuring some of the city's most opulent mansions, with their elaborate facades. We visit the stunning Jaisalmer Fort which stands 260ft high above the desert. Within its walls you will find beautifully Amritsar 2 nights from only £329 A chance to travel on the Shatabdi Express, the country's fastest train, to Amritsar, an ancient and fascinating city. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 ­ Board the train from Delhi to Amritsar. During the evening you will be taken to Wagah, the only border crossing between India and Pakistan , to attend the spectacular sunset `banging on the gates' ceremony. In the evening, visit the spectacular Golden Temple. DAY 2 ­ Half day sightseeing tour of Amritsar. There are a number of religious and historical sites to see, including the Durgiana Temple, the Tower of Baba Atal Rai, the museum at Ram Bagh which houses ancient weapons and Jallianwal Bagh ­ the site of a massacre where bullet marks can still be seen. Make the most of this city, which is a centre of Sikhism and culture. Evening train journey back to Delhi for an overnight stay. DAY 3 ­ Day at leisure in Delhi before transferring to the airport for a late evening flight to the UK .
