DAY 4 - Transfer to the airport for the journey into the rainforest. Your flight rises over the majestic snow-covered peaks of the Andes Mountains before descending over 8,500ft into the Amazon region. You will be met on arrival and taken by covered motorised canoe on a 2 hour trip down the Napo River. Continue to your lodge for a two night stay. DAY 5 - A breathtaking day in the heart of the South American rainforest, shot through with the forbidding waters of the Amazon and the resplendent green of the lush jungle. During your stay you will have the opportunity to explore the depths of the rainforest and join fascinating jungle trails; we have included guided walks where you will have the chance to see a variety of birds and wildlife. We have also included one of the main highlights of the area, a visit to the Butterfly Farm. DAY 6 - Return to the airport by boat for your flight back to Quito for an overnight stay. DAY 7 - Transfer to the airport for your flight to the Galapagos Islands. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a three night stay. Located some 600 miles off the coast of South America, the Galapagos Islands form the westernmost province of Ecuador and have been enthralling numerous visitors for many years. Their 3,000 square miles of land is home to an astonishing array of species, forming a gigantic `living laboratory' that has been crucial in the study of evolution. Known as the `Enchanted Islands' they are a genuine paradise and a joy to explore. DAYS 8 & 9 - The Galapagos Islands constitute Ecuador's most celebrated national park. During your time here you will visit the islands by boat operating daily trips to neighbouring isles such as South Plazas for a look at the remarkable fauna, including sea lions, marine iguanas, frigate birds and pelicans. North Seymour Island is home to a large colony of bluefooted boobies, sea lions and marine iguanas. And no trip to this amazing archipelago would be complete without seeing the famous Galapagos giant tortoise, the most enduring and instantly recognisable symbol of the islands. The marine life of the islands is also fascinating, with hundreds of species of fish, and a number of types of shark and whale to be seen in these equatorial waters. DAY 10 - Transfer back to the airport for your return flight to Quito for an overnight stay. DAY 11 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. DAY 12 - Arrival in the UK. Most of the travel between islands is at night, giving you more time to appreciate the islands' wonders. You'll cruise to Genovesa Island and visit the white beach at Darwin Bay. The following day you will arrive at Suarez Point on Espanola Island which boasts large nestling colonies of blue footed boobies and the Albatross before continuing to San Cristobal Island.
