You will fly to Sapporo for a three night stay to visit the town's stunning Ice Festival - one of Japan's major events each winter. See everything in the main itinerary and more of Japan's highlights on our tour, including spectacular journeys aboard Japan's rail service on 16th October 2008. Visit the cities of Kyoto and Nara and take time to explore the tragic city of Hiroshima before climbing into the Japanese Alps to Nagoya, Takayama and Mishima Hakone National Park. Take a boat trip on Lake Ashi and enjoy the hot springs at scenic Owakudani before arriving in splendid Tokyo for a few days. You will be staying in comfortable three and four star accommodation throughout the trip.

YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - This will be Day 8 of the main tour. Transfer to your Ryokan for a two night stay on a half board basis. On arrival your local representative will explain the Japanese way at a Ryokan. DAY 2 - Breakfast is in the main dining room at a time you request. Rest of the day at leisure. DAY 3 - Transfer to Kyoto airport for your return flight to the UK. As you will be flying westwards your arrival is later the same day. Your Ryokan Guest rooms serve as a living area during the day. Later in the evening your room is transformed into a bedroom. Everything is done for you so all you need to do is sit back and relax. All rooms feature private facilities.
