Hotel facilities include a bar, lounge, restaurant, lift and swimming pool. All bedrooms are comfortably furnished and have private facilities, air-conditioning, TV and telephone. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style and lunch will usually be a set menu. Meals are of a good standard with choice.

Part of Africa, yet on Europe's doorstep, Tunisia is a land of enchanting contrasts. A coastline of glorious beaches and lush citrus groves gives way to the stark beauty of the Sahara Desert. Thousands of years of history have left a legacy of wonderful monuments to discover, yet the country offers excellent hospitality and facilities for the visitor. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to Tunis. After lunch at a local restaurant we visit the ancient ruins in the area of Carthage. Continue to your hotel in Yasmine Hammamet, a popular resort on the Gulf of Hammamet, for an overnight stay. Welcome drink on arrival. DAY 2 - Depart Yasmine and head to Kairouan, once capital of the Maghreb region. Parts of the original town remain in the splendid medina, including the magnificent 7th century Great Mosque, with its towering minaret. Your journey continues, with a stop for lunch en route, to Tozeur, an oasis town on the edge of the Sahara and your hotel for a two night stay. Optional evening horse and carriage ride through the town's cooling palm groves. DAY 3 - Today's included excursion is a remarkable journey into the desert. Transfer to Metlaoue to join the Red Lizard train. This delightful colonial-style train transports you through the dramatic Selja Canyon, which can only be reached by rail. We then join four-wheel drive vehicles for the journey to the mountain oases of Tamerza and Chebika, where you will enjoy wonderful views of the rocky Atlas Mountains. Return to Tozeur for lunch. This afternoon it's back to the desert for our included visit to the great sand dunes near Nefta and Ong Jemel, used as a backdrop for the Star Wars movies. After dinner at the hotel we include a visit to the interesting Checruit Museum. DAY 4 - This morning we leave Tozeur early to admire the sunrise over the salt lake of Chott el Jerid. Continue to Douz where you can take an optional camel ride in the Sahara Desert. We then visit the famous underground houses at Matmata, which date back to the 4th century BC and are still inhabited. On to Gabes for a visit to the Jara market, before making our way to Sfax for an overnight stay. DAY 5 - Depart for El Jem, widely regarded as Tunisia's foremost attraction. Here you will find a splendid Roman Amphitheatre, the third largest in the world. Continue to Monastir for a visit to the Ribat, whose tower faces out to sea, and the mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba, former president of Tunisia. After lunch in Monastir we depart for the modern resort of Yasmine Hammamet, to the south of the old town of Hammamet for a three night stay. DAY 6 - Included morning excursion to old Hammamet to visit the bustling markets and the 13th century kasbah. Afternoon free. This evening join an optional trip to see a traditional folklore show. DAY 7 - This morning we include a visit to Tunis, where you will see the ancient medina, with its lively souks and narrow alleys. Continue to the Bardo Archaeological Museum, which houses an outstanding collection of Roman mosaics. Return to the hotel for lunch. Afternoon free. DAY 8 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
