With its breathtaking scenery, incredible wildlife, spectacular national parks, diverse people and sophisticated cities, South Africa caters for every taste. With walking trails through some of the most scenic parts of the country, including the magnificent Garden Route and a spectacular walk on Table Mountain, this fabulous holiday is a truly memorable experience. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1  UK/SOUTH AFRICA Depart on your scheduled flight to Cape Town. DAY 2  CAPE TOWN Arrival in Cape Town. We include a city orientation tour prior to transferring to your hotel for a five night stay. The remainder of the day is at leisure. DAY 3  CAPE TOWN Visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve for a scenic walk between the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point (approx. 1 hours walk). This is a beautiful walk with spectacular cliffs and stunning beaches. In the afternoon return to Cape Town stopping at Boulders Beach to visit the Jackass Penguin Colony. DAY 4  CAPE TOWN This morning we take the cable car up the famous Table Mountain for fantastic views across Cape Town and the coastline. Our circular walk will take us to Maclears Beacon, the highest point on the mountain. Enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to the upper cableway station for the cable car journey back down the mountain. The remainder of the afternoon will be at leisure (please note, the day of this trip may need to be moved due to weather conditions). DAY 5  CAPE TOWN Morning leisurely walk through the splendid Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, with over 5000 plant species. Afternoon drive to Stellenbosch to visit Spier for a wine tasting and cellar tour. DAY 6  CAPE TOWN Today we visit the West Coast National Park, characterised by the famous Strandveld Lagoon. This park is also a haven to large number of waders and sea birds. This easy trail is around four miles long and leads out over the dunes for wonderful views of Langebaan Lagoon. DAY 7  OUDTSHOORN Depart Cape Town and journey to Oudtshoorn for an overnight stay. On arrival enjoy a drive out to the spectacular Cango Caves for a tour. Dinner tonight will be a traditional South African barbecue called a braai. DAY 8  KNYSNA Depart Oudtshoorn via the dramatic Outeniqua Mountain Pass. We start today with an easy trail on the Jubilee Creek Forest Walk, featuring forest, streams and a swimming hole as well as the yellowwood trees which are some of the largest in the world, standing at 200ft (approx. 1 hours walk). From here continue to Knysna for a two night stay. DAY 9  KNYSNA Morning included lagoon cruise to Featherbed Nature Reserve, followed by a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head. Return on foot, through the milkwood forest for lunch and return to the mainland. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the delightful town of Knysna at your own pace. DAY 10  TSITSIKAMMA Drive to Plettenberg Bay for an included coastal walk (approx. 1½ hours walk). Different options will also be available for more experienced walkers. Continue to Tsitsikamma for an overnight stay. DAY 11  PORT ELIZABETH Morning departure for a visit to Tsitsikamma Forest where a short walk will take you through the forest to the Storms River Mouth Suspension Bridge. The trail continues on the other side of the bridge and ascends steeply from sea level to the plateau and the viewpoint at Bakenkop. The magnificent view of the open sea is ample reward. Continue to Port Elizabeth for an overnight stay. DAY 12  SOUTH AFRICA/UK Enjoy a leisurely morning in Port Elizabeth. We include a tour of the city before a transfer to the airport and your return flight to the UK. DAY 13  UK Arrival in the UK. YOUR HOTEL: You will stay in good quality hotels such as the Cape Manor Hotel in Cape Town, the Riempie Estate in Oudtshoorn, the Graywood Hotel in Knysna, the PH Tsitsikamma Hotel in Tsitsikamma and the GC. Kings Beach in Port Elizabeth. All bedrooms feature private facilities, TV and telephone. Hotels are air-conditioned where appropriate.
