GERMANY - By Coach Black Forest 6 days from A warm welcome awaits you in a pretty German village in the northern Black Forest, a magical region which is sure to enchant you. Your Christmas shopping trip takes you to the old town in nearby Strasbourg  quaint and bedecked with nativity scenes and traditional stalls, this is one of Europes largest Christmas markets. Theres also an optional tour through the Black Forest visiting the popular town of Freiburg and we visit Gemanys oldest town,Trier. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning crossing to Calais. Continue to your overnight stop in the Reims area of France on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Drive to Metz with time for a stroll around the historic centre, then continue to the northern Black Forest in Germany for a three night stay. DAY 3 - Included three-quarter day excursion to the superb Christmas market at nearby Strasbourg, with its variety of traditional stalls offering specialities such as hand-made wood carvings, scented candles, unusual Christmas decorations and gift ideas, delicious snacks and hot mulled wine. DAY 4 - Free to relax and enjoy our optional full day Black Forest tour taking you through some wonderful scenery. We visit the quaint old centre of Freiburg, whose cathedral tower was once described as the most beautiful tower in Christendom and is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. DAY 5 - Depart for Trier, Germanys oldest town and an afternoon visit to the Christmas market located in the pedestrianised centre. Overnight stop in the Moselle Valley area on a bed and breakfast basis. With a picturesque riverside setting, towering castle, quaint and winding lanes, lively bars and cafés, a really fabulous, fairy tale Christmas shopping treat awaits! YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning crossing to Calais. Travel through Belgium and into Germany for an overnight stay in the Aachen area on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Today we enjoy a scenic drive along the Rhine Valley, with a stop in popular Boppard. Continue to the Heidelberg/Ludwigshafen area for a three night stay. DAYS 3 & 4 - Free to relax and enjoy our included excursion: Heidelberg - A full day excursion to one of Germanys most historic university cities, dominated by its famous castle which can be reached either by foot or funicular and is well worth a visit. Heidelberg has its own selection of Christmas markets located in a number of squares adjacent to the mile-long pedestrianised Hauptstrasse. As well as the Christmas market stalls, Heidelberg offers a super range of shops in and around the old quarter. Alternatively, why not take a stroll along the right bank quays of the River Neckar or enjoy a drink in a traditional café. The following excursion is optional: Speyer - A three-quarter day tour visiting the old imperial town of Speyer. The traditional Christmas market in the lovely main square is overlooked by a magnificent Romanesque Cathedral. DAY 5 - Leaving the Heidelberg area, we return through Germany for an overnight stop in the Liège area of Belgium on a bed and breakfast basis.
