Monday 27th Cruising at sea. Tuesday 28th Sevastopol Arrive 0800 Depart midnight Situated on the tip of the Crimea, Sevastopol is a treasure-house of historic monuments. At nearby Balaklava you can see the moving site of the famous Charge of the Light Brigade. Other highlights on our optional excursions include Vladimirsky Cathedral, Pokrov Church, the Monument to the Scuttled Ships and a lively folk show. Wednesday 29th Yalta Arrive 0700 Depart 1700 The beauty of the Crimean Peninsula inspired the Tsars to choose this region for their summer resorts, one of which was Yalta. Today their grand mansions can still be seen, including the fine Livadia Palace, site of the historic Yalta Conference in 1945. Optional excursions also include a visit to the famous Swallow's Nest, a white palace with towers and spires offering magnificent views of the Black Sea. Thursday 30th Varna Arrive 1200 Depart 2000 Varna in Bulgaria is a cosmopolitan and charming city with many Byzantine remains. As well as a beautiful beach, it offers historic buildings, museums and art galleries. Friday 31st Istanbul Arrive 0930 We arrive in Istanbul this morning and have two full days
to explore this exotic city.Visit such unforgettable sights as the Suleymaniye Mosque, the magnificent Byzantine church of Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque; and the Topkapi Palace. Our overnight stay also gives you the opportunity to see the city by night. Saturday 1st November Istanbul Depart Midnight Another day to explore Istanbul. Sunday 2nd Cruising at sea. Monday 3rd Piraeus Arrive 0800 Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

David Hawkes joined her Majesty's Diplomatic Service in 1965, and served with them until his retirement in 1997. His most recent appointment was a Head of Mission in Tripoli, Libya, when he was the UK's representative to the Libyan Government. As a regular on the lecture circuit David talks with authority on Florence Nightingale, the Charge of the Light Brigade, Arab and Bedouin jewellery, the Holy Land and other related topics.

Friday 24th October Depart on your scheduled flight to Athens and transfer to Piraeus to join Ocean Majesty. Take the chance to explore Athens by night. Saturday 25th Piraeus (for Athens) Depart 1700 A variety of optional excursions are available from Piraeus.Visit the magnificent Acropolis to see the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike, from where you can enjoy excellent views over the city. You can also take a trip to Cape Sounion to see the Temple of Poseidon, or to ancient Corinth and the Temple of Apollo. Sunday 26th Kusadasi Arrive 0800 Depart 1500 Kusadasi is great for shopping, with bargains galore in the friendly souks, and if you want to explore further, take an optional trip to the ruins of ancient Ephesus, home of the Temple of Hadrian, the Library of Celsus, and the Great Theatre.
