Bill Giles's story is a fascinating one. After joining the Meteorological Office in 1957, he was sent to Christmas Island to observe the meteorological effects of the H-bomb tests, then worked as an observer with the RAF and as a lecturer at the Met Office's training college, before his broadcasting career began. He became Head of BBC Weather Services for the Met Office in 1983 and received the OBE in 1995.

Stroll along the Royal Mile to the Castle, browse through the shops on Princes Street, or visit the Royal Yacht Britannia, permanently moored in Leith. Sunday 28th - Cruising at sea Monday 29th - Belfast Arrive 0800 Depart 1700 Set between the sea and the rolling hills, Belfast is a vibrant city, whose highlights include the City Hall, Queen's University, the Botanic Gardens, and the fascinating Ulster Museum. You can join an excursion to the amazing Giant's Causeway, the only Unesco World Heritage Site in Ireland. Tuesday 30th - Dublin Arrive 0700 Depart 1530 Stroll around St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trinity College and Dublin Castle in this famously welcoming city. Enjoy a spot of shopping along lively O'Connell Street, then relax over a pint of the famous Guinness in one of the friendly bars and cafés of the Temple Bar area. Take an optional tour of Ireland's capital, or visit the famous book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript belived to be the work of the monks of lona, who fled to Kells in AD806. Wednesday 1st July - Falmouth Arrive 0900 Depart 1730 Admire the view as you sail up the beautiful Fal Estuary past wooded creeks and inlets to the charming Cornish port of Falmouth with its narrow cobbled streets and lovely sandy beaches. Enjoy optional tours to the Eden Project or explore the beautiful Cornish countryside. Thursday 2nd - Cruising at sea Friday 3rd - London Arrive 1200 Be sure to be on deck to watch the arms of Tower Bridge open to let the Ocean Majesty pass, as you sail up the Thames to berth in London around midday.
