As Canadas third largest city, it is a busy seaport and important centre for the fishing and timber industries. A morning introductory half day tour of the city takes us to visit Chinatown, Gas Town, the remarkable 1,000 acre Stanley Park with its famous totem poles and the magnificent harbour. There is certainly plenty to see and do in Vancouver. Enjoy an optional half day excursion to Vancouvers Northshore featuring the spectacular Capilano suspension bridge and a cable car ride up Grouse Mountain for breathtaking views of the city and the snow-capped mountains of Washington State (America) and Vancouver Island. Perhaps the most popular excursion is to Victoria, capital of British Columbia, where much of its British Victorian heritage is still preserved. The full day trip includes a ferry across to the island, and visits the marvellous Butchart Gardens, Parliament Building and the fabled Empress Hotel. Whats more, for those of you with friends or relations in the area, our stay in Vancouver allows plenty of time to stop by and say hello. See black bears in the wild and visit the capital of British Columbia, Victoria on this fabulous add-on, available with our Canadian Rockies & Vancouver holiday. On Day 11 of the main itinerary, take the ferry from Vancouver across the Strait of Georgia to Victoria on Vancouver Island to visit the stunning Butchart Gardens, Parliament building, fabled Empress Hotel and the Oak Bay area and an overnight stay at the Queen Victoria Hotel. Next day we visit the Royal British Columbia Museum, before departing for picturesque Tofino for a three night stay at the Days Inn Weigh West. Take the fantastic boat ride to Clayoquot Sound, designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, to spot the islands black bears which come down to feed along the shoreline and keep an eye out for eagles, seals, otters, puffins and grey whales. Youll have time to relax on the beach, follow wilderness trails through the forests, or take a walk along the beaches of the Pacific Rim National Park, before returning to Vancouver for an overnight stay and your return flight to the UK next day.
