Alice Springs From the timeless land of Kakadu to the ancient Aboriginal culture of Uluru - an epic journey to the most amazing wonders of Australia. We travel the coast road north before our first night stop near the beach. Time to chill out in Byron Bay, Australia's alternative capital before we transfer to Moreton Island, for a 2 day 4WD adventure. Hike the world's highest sand dunes, take a swim in a crystal clear lake, or explore the unusual rock formations and shipwrecks. After arriving at the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands, Airlie Beach, where you'll have a free day to go sailing on a racing yacht, take a cruise to a millionaire's resort or just swim in the warm tropical waters. Whitewater raft, sky dive or sea kayak whilst in Mission Beach before our next stop in Cairns. Join our sailing boat to explore the Great Barrier Reef with its incredible diversity of marine life. Hand feed the fish, snorkel among the coral in the clear waters or try scuba diving (no experience needed). This is a day you will remember for the rest of your life. Head west over the Great Dividing Range, come and meet Russell and his pet reptiles before a couple of big days driving across this vast nation and entering the Northern Territory. We will camp among the wildlife at Katherine Gorge and maybe take an optional cruise up two of the spectacular gorge systems before heading further north to visit the famous Magnetic Termite mounds. Enjoy your free day to take in the sights of Darwin before we depart to the World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park. Visit Nourlangie Rock to see Aboriginal rock art thousands of years old. Maybe search for crocodiles, birds, snakes, dingos and much more on an optional Yellow Water Billabong Cruise. Camp at an Aboriginal buffalo station and learn how the aboriginals existed for thousands of years in harmony with their surroundings. NOTE: Lodging version available from Oct 08 Mar 09.
