38 Kia Ora from New Zealand Welcome to New Zealand and our latest tours brought to you by NzXposure. What's different about our tours in New Zealand? Our New Zealand program lets you choose from a range of small group adventures of varied lengths and itineraries, exploring all the way from the winterless North to the fjords and glaciers of the far South. And of course there's everything in between, from spectacular volcanoes and mountain ranges, to empty beaches and rugged coastal scenery, plus loads of adrenalin filled activities. rooms, games rooms and many of them even have a bar. They have a great atmosphere and are a fun way to travel and to meet other travellers. Generally, our groups stay in 4-bed rooms but we may occasionally need to use larger rooms. A twin room can be arranged upon booking. You just need to bring a sleeping bag and a towel. the food kitty. This is very much a group participation experience so everyone helps out with day to day chores while on tour, including cooking, washing up and keeping the van clean and tidy. Travelling during the NZ winter On our `off-season' trips, we make some changes in order to take in the different activities available during this time. At Mt Ruapehu and Queenstown you may ski or do other winter sports options. Some hikes such as the Tongoriro Crossing will be substituted with a beautiful lower altitude forest hike. Most of the itinerary stays the same with the exception of the overnight Milford cruise which becomes a day trip during this period. This may also be the case with the Bay of Islands overnight cruise depending on conditions and availability at the time. New Zealand does not experience severe winters, so most activities just require more (and heavier) clothes during the `off season' months of mid-May to late September. Meals while on tour We operate a food kitty system whereby everyone, including the Tour Leader, contributes $70 NZ per week. We pay for most our meals out of this fund, which we prepare on a roster basis in the backpacker kitchens. As our groups tend to be quite multinational, we encourage our cooking teams to prepare something traditional from their homeland when it is their turn to cook. We also make breakfast and prepare most lunches from this kitty. There will be times when the group will decide to eat out at night and try the local cuisine. These meals will be paid locally and do not come out of Fully accommodated adventure tours Our tours in New Zealand are fully accommodated (no camping except in our Hiking New Zealand trek) utilising a range of backpacker style hostels and cabins. The backpacker network in New Zealand is very well developed and provides clean, comfortable and economical lodging making it ideal for our tours. The backpacker hostels have full kitchens, TV For departure dates and prices please see pages 48-49
