Active outdoor holidays for all ages
Footloose is our special programme of active, outdoor holidays designed for adventure-minded people of all ages. Over
the last thirteen years, Footloose has developed into a distinct and diverse tour programme with trips ranging from seven to twenty-eight days in three continents. While the general concept remains the same as our TrekAmerica programme, the tours themselves fall by definition into three distinct styles of travel; our adventurous Classic Camping Tours, our more relaxed Walking Tours and our comfortable yet affordable Lodging Tours. There are also a few unique aspects which are noted below.
What is the difference between TrekAmerica and Footloose?
Age group
Footloose tours are designed for adults over 18 years old. While most passengers are 25-55, we get many people both above and below this range who prefer to travel in a small group unrestricted by age. On our Family Discovery Tours the minimum age for children (accompanied by their parents) is 8 years old. However 6 and 7 years old will be considered upon request. For safety reasons, travellers over 55 will be requested to complete a self-declaration of fitness, although our experience has shown us that most senior travellers are often in the best shape!
Itinerary and en-route hotels
Footloose tours are operated exactly as per the Itinerary on each trips page. En route hotels are always included in the price of the tour, as denoted by HP in the itinerary.
Classic Camping Tours
Camping allows us to stay in the heart of the most breathtaking natural scenery, where hotels and crowds just dont exist. Our campgrounds have a high standard of amenities and our equipment is top quality. At many sites we stay two or three nights, so there is ample time to fully explore the area. With year-round departures ranging in duration from ten days to four weeks, why not take two holidays this year?!
Who is a typical Footloose client?
There really is no such thing as a typical Footloose client. Clients on our tours are as varied and interesting as the places that we visit. While our groups are small, averaging just 12 passengers, each is typically comprised of between 4 and 6 different nationalities. And having such a unique range of tours tends to attract travellers from all age groups; you may find yourself with first time travellers to the USA in their mid-twenties or with some of the most seasoned travellers in the world. Whether you are an explorer at heart, an outdoor enthusiast, or someone who simply enjoys the smell of a campfire and sleeping under the stars - you will be sure to meet interesting companions from all walks of life!
Types of tours
Footloose offers a selection of Classic Camping, Walking and Lodging Tours for adults, as well as a selection of fully accommodated and campingbased Family Discovery Tours. Going beyond North America, Footloose is proud to operate small group adventures in Central America, South America and Australia/New Zealand.
