tart amidst the corridors of power then veer right off the tourist paths. DC, Chicago and NYC are fast-paced, but nature contributes to even the balance: soaring peaks, Great Lakes and Niagara Falls see to that. Add a soundtrack of blues, country & western. Yep, we reckon youve got the East covered.
Day 12 Niagara Falls A serious amount of water crashes only feet from you. Face it, you will get splashed on your Maid of the Mist boat trip. Day 13 Finger Lakes The lakes, gorges and waterfalls are natures way of tempting you to swim or pound those walking trails. Day 14 New York Feel king of the hill and top of the heap with your sensational Garden State finale. Note: This tour may operate in either direction!

Day 1/2 Washington DC 1600 Pennsylvania Drive is the address in the prestige stakes. Perhaps you know it as the White House, an icon through and through. Day 3 Shenandoah National Park Rucksacks at the ready. The Appalachian Trail puts earth under your boots, great oaks overhead and huge scenery every which way you look. Day 4 West Virginia For the Mountain State, you could read Whitewater State: feed the rafting bug with an optional blast in the rapids. Day 5/6 Great Smoky Mountains Known to the Cherokee people as the Place of Blue Smoke, the ghostly mist that rolls through the valleys never loses its impact. Day 7 Nashville Expect a big slice of Southern charm where country and western fills foot-tapping live venues then satisfy your urge for thumping bass, rock anthems or whatever gets you on the dance floor. Day 8 Mammoth Caves National Park The name doesnt lie, Mammoth Cave is the longest on the planet, and youre going in for a peek. Day 9/10 Chicago Zoom up the Sears Tower for a head-spinning city overview, pop by ivy-clad Wrigley Field where the Cubs hit their home runs, then browse hip blues joints on soulful Halsted Street.
