Flexible Itinerary
Day 1/2 Yosemite National Park In San Francisco, where your trip begins, todays 49ers prize the Superbowl above all else; Their 1849 namesakes craved gold as much of the stuff as they could lay their hands on. Tail them through Gold Country to Yosemite, a land of giants like the soaring sequoias and hunks of granite. Day 3 Sierra Nevada Cross Tioga Pass if conditions allow. This road has altitude, not to mention colossal views. Then head south to Bishop and quench your thirst in some local bar. Day 4 Great Basin Catch some Zs under canvas in this hugest of US deserts. Remote and desolate, its a fascinating place to get up close and personal to nature. Day 5/6 Zion National Park Then again, so is Zion, with Weeping Rock, Checkerboard Mesa and Angels Landing topping many a hikers checklist. Day 7 Bryce Canyon National Park Hoodoos, baby, its all about the hoodoos, and those bizarre bumpy spires are bona fide head-turners. Day 8 Lake Powell Trek on or wind down. Theres no harm in recharging your batteries with a little hardearned R&R on this inviting oasis shore. Day 9 Monument Valley Jump in a jeep and zoom around sacred Navajo lands where red, flat-topped mesas and buttes steal the show. Day 10/11 Grand Canyon National Park Get up, up and away. Taking the option of taking to the skies reveals the king of the canyons in all its glory. But, hey, lets be honest its awesome from every angle. Day 12 Las Vegas Can you resist a casino called Golden Nugget? Find your fortune in the flip of a card or the spin of wheel. If Lady Luck skips town, a limo ride should make you feel a million dollars anyhow.
