Day 1/2 Mount Rainier National Park Seattle melts from sight and summits loom large. Mount Rainier trumps the lot in Washington, and that really is saying something. Day 3 Idaho Crossing state lines, you might pick out the motto Famous Potatoes on license plates. No prizes for guessing what grows in rich Idaho soil. Day 4 Montana Welcome beneath the Big Sky, as Montanans like to say. Youll soon catch their drift under the cloudless blue expanse. Day 5/6 Yellowstone National Park Yellowstone knows the knack of wowing visitors. Geysers spurt up, mud pots bubble away and steam vents hiss to a chorus of oohs and aahs. Day 7 Grand Teton National Park Say howdy to Yellowstones next-door neighbour. The 40-mile mountain spine should have the adventurer in you crunching along rock-strewn trails in double-quick time, keeping half an eye out for eagles, elk and bears, of course. Day 8 Jackson Feel the old frontier spirit alive and kicking. Fresh from conquering the Snake River rapids or the mountains by pedal power, corral your posse into the nearest watering hole. Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is a fine tip, with saddles for stools and trophy cow horns above the counter. Day 9 Nevada Nat-So-Pah Hot Springs are ahead. Is the tent up? Uh-huh. Then go have yourself some quality lounging time! Day 10/11 Lake Tahoe More water, maybe a mite cooler but clear as day. And when night sneaks up, chill out on a sunset cruise.
