Day 1 Santa Barbara Fresh out of Hollywood, bask in Santa Barbara beach life. Slap on the sunscreen and flaunt your volleyball or surfing skills. Day 2 Big Sur With each passing mile on Californias famed Pacific Coast Highway 1, the shore grows yet more spectacular, as mountains lean down towards pounding Pacific swell. Day 3/4 Yosemite National Park Wish the ocean so long for a couple of days. But its a fair trade-off: the Sierra Nevada raise their snowy heads, waterfalls tumble down Yosemite cliffs and, well, life just seems peachy. Day 5/6 San Francisco (H) This town will blow you away. Sunlight on the bay, wispy fog around Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars climbing steep streets: its a 24carat stunner. When the party people flock to trendy bars and jumping clubs, that friendly vibe gets even friendlier. Day 7/8 Redwood National Park Leave footprints on what is virtually your private Pacific beach or traipse between gigantic Redwoods, feeling like ants in their mighty shadow. Day 9 Oregon Coast Buckle up and keep that camera handy, as the greens get greener and the Coastal Range mass together on the horizon. Day 10 Mount St Helens National Monument Watch footage of the devastating 1980 eruption then take in this brooding, smouldering volcano from Spirit Lake. Day 11 Mount Rainier National Park Rainier is the Cascade Ranges head honcho and its kingdom sure lives up to the hype. Day 12/13 Olympic National Park Get ready to roll out one last blast of fresh-air adventure amidst dense rainforest and ancient glaciers.
