Day 1 Pacific Coast With LA at your back, the sun on your face and Pacific to the West, youre already riding that California high. Up in Monterey or Carmel, find a cool camp spot tucked between giant Redwoods. Day 2/3 San Francisco (H) Fall for Friscos charm offensive in Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf or on the hillside heights. Tonight put on your glad rags for bar hopping til the tiny hours. Mission and Marina Districts usually check the right boxes. Day 4/5 Yosemite National Park After those big-city excesses, stretch your legs in one of natures greatest back yards, power along the churning, raft-friendly Merced River or push your pedals to the limit. Day 6 Sierra Nevada Wind through high-up peaks with far-out views that will have you itching to get your trekking boots on. Day 7/8 Las Vegas (H) Closer to sea level, luminous Vegas ups the ante. Catch some rays by the hotel pool then dive into The Strip, whose bars and clubs are swimming in neon. Day 9/10 Grand Canyon National Park Wow! You may be lost for words. Here are two to consider: helicopter ride; whirring high above the canyon depths is nothing short of mind-blowing. Day 11 Lake Havasu This is A-grade Arizona: Mojave Desert, Colorado River, Copper Canyon and the original London Bridge. We kid you not! Day 12/13 San Diego In Americas Finest City, laze in grassy Balboa Park or feel sand between your toes at Mission Beach. Later, sink martinis on rooftop terraces, lounge with the beach bar crowd or shake your stuff to a sultry Latino beat. Day 14 Los Angeles Back to La La Land, with its Walk of Fame shrines to silver screen mega-stars. For real-life sightings, trawl the local papers for vital celeb spotter tip-offs& but, hey, no promises!
