HIGHLIGHTS & INCLUSIONS
From ancient pyramids set deep in their steamy jungle lair, to the depths of the warm Caribbean Sea - explore and discover the rhythm of life, both past and present, as you travel through the vibrant lands of Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize.
DAY 1 CANCUN > MERIDA (L) Leaving the modern coastal resort of Cancun, travel back in time to the renowned Mayan complex of Chichen Itza, then on to the genteel grandeur of the Spanish colonial capital of Merida.
DAY 2/3 PALENQUE (L) Explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its spectacular ruins and pristine waterfalls set deep in the tropical rainforest. Enjoy the peace and solitude of this jungle setting as the sun goes down and the sound of Howler monkeys fills the air. DAY 4-6 SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS (L) Winding past the beautiful Agua Azul, we come to the mountain town of San Cristobal. Cut off from the outside world, this colonial but distinctly indigenous town bustles with an infectious vitality. The traditional costumes and ancient dialects of the local Maya collide in a mosaic of colour and sound. DAY 7/8 PANAJACHEL (L) Through the highlands and into Guatemala. No words spoken or pictures seen can prepare you for the dramatic views of Lake Atitlan, set deep in a caldera surrounded by active volcanoes. Chichicastenango's market floods the senses, as displays of clothing and crafts, fruit and flowers, fill the air and beg to be bought. DAY 9-11 ANTIGUA (L) Majestic Antigua, though shaken by earthquakes and surrounded by smoking volcanoes, remains distinguished and regal. This colonial city is one of the most stunning and well preserved in all of the Americas and the locals are well known for their elaborate celebrations and street processions for Holy Week (Semana Santa). DAY 12/13 POPTUN/TIKAL (L) Visit the legendary Finca Ixobel - a working farm welcoming travellers for decades. Beneath a jungle canopy teeming with troops of monkeys and flocks of raucous parrots lie the fabled ruins of Tikal. Majestic monuments line palatial plazas and slender pyramids reach to the sky. DAY 14-16 CAYE CAULKER (L) Travel east into Belize and the island paradise of Caye Caulker. This Caribbean cauldron of cultures is best known for its relaxed, laid-back atmosphere and the opportunity to swim with playful stingrays and sharks while diving through coral gardens and beautiful azure seas. DAY 17 BACALAR (L) Discover the spectacular scenery and marine life of Bacalar on an included boat tour of the Lagoon of Seven Colours. Take a swim and unwind in the idyllic natural spring of Cenote Azul before continuing up the Caribbean Coast to Playa del Carmen. DAY 18-20 PLAYA DEL CARMEN (L) Snorkel or scuba dive the underground cenotes or jump on a quad bike for an adventurous jungle tour. Then top it all off with some well deserved rest and relaxation on the champagne sands of the Mexican Riviera.
