The spirit of i-to-i
The spirit of i-to-i
Imagine a company that brings people together: sharing experiences and helping to make the world a better place. Imagine a company that helps people to make a connection: a connection to other people, to other cultures and to themselves.
Imagine a company that helps you communicate with people who don't even speak your language. Imagine a company with a smile on its face and a wink in its eye. Imagine a company with more ideas than it knows what to do with. Imagine a company who understand its responsibility to others and helps people fulfil their own. Imagine a travel experience that connects you with a world you didn't even know existed and sends you home a happier and better person. Imagine a company that brings together rich and poor, black and white, east and west, youth and experience. Imagine a company that deals in hope in the face of despair. Imagine a company that sells life-changing experiences, not meaningless, soul-less, shrink wrapped, age-defying, low-carb, high-protein, low interest, high growth, dual fuel, fast food, throw-away nonsense. Imagine a travel company for the twenty first century.
That is i-to-i.
How we work
We've spent years developing relationships with our partners overseas - volunteer projects, creative tour operators, world class educational establishments and reliable in-country workers alike. All share the same common goal of giving you an amazing travel experience, but one which ensures you'll always be contributing in a long-term, sustainable way. And if you go on a volunteer trip you can rest assured that the project you join is not paying anything to us for our services or towards the cost of your participation. This final point is vital, as many of the projects that we work with could not afford to recruit and train the foreign volunteers which they rely on to survive. We are not a charity, we are an ethical business striving to help people in the developing world.

Above and beyond the i-to-i charity
In addition to helping you help countless communities worldwide, we also provide support by raising money through our charity arm, the i-to-i Foundation. Through it we're able to bring direct assistance to the communities which need it. Following the tragic Asian tsunami, we were the first and only company in our field to offer an emergency relief programme. Find out more about the Foundation on page 7.
What to expect on your i-to-i
Of course, you can expect i-to-i to arrange your trip and support you every step of the way. What you can't expect is that foreign cultures will share your ideas and values! In your time abroad you'll encounter ideas and methods that may seem strange, or even infuriating. From work practices to attitudes to women and children, it may be frustrating, but it's up to you to work within their system. You'll also need to accept that you can't change the world in a week. You'll play a small but significant part in an ongoing process of development and cultural exchange.
