Teach English in Mancora, a small town in northern Peru boasting one of the country's best and most beautiful surfing beaches. There are two schools offering placements, the first is one of the most prestigious primary schools in the area, while the second is a large mixed school with students of all ages. Although the schools are well staffed, opportunities for English lessons with native speakers are few and far between, so your efforts will be greatly appreciated by the cheerful pupils. Mancora has a great climate and is an ideal place to relax and absorb the Latin American spirit.
Meaningful tour: the Peruvian Andes experience
This tour offers a unique opportunity to interact with the people of Peru and to help safeguard the future of the local environment and all its inhabitants. The main focus of this project is to educate the local community about the importance of maintaining the region's fragile forest eco-systems. In the first week you'll be helping your host family to build a fuel-efficient cooking stove. In week two, you'll assist with reforestation projects in the area. And in the last week you will be working with street children and orphans at a local children's home.

1. Learn to surf at Mancora's beach 2. Watch the fishermen go about their work in Caleta Cruz 3. See the archeological relics of pre-Inca civilizations around Chiclayo 4. Hunt for souvenirs in Catacaos, a renowned craft market near Piura
The Experience
This was a fascinating tour which I really enjoy telling people about. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this trip certainly filled any expectations I had. The local people were great so friendly and warm. The family's reaction to the stove must be the highlight for me. Thalia Walis
