You will be starting in Cairo where modern architecture mingles with age-old customs. Looming in the distance are the distinctive structures for which the country is famed - the magnificent Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza. Then its on to Aswan where the Nile is at its most beautiful with lush islands contrasted against stunning desert plains. Delving deeper into this ancient world, you will be whisked off to Luxor, which stands on the very land where the ancient city of Thebes once flourished. Home to a whole host of ancient relics including the Tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, this incredible city will give a unique insight into early Egyptian civilisation. Day 26: Cairo. For the next five days your mornings will be spent studying Arabic at a local language school. Not only will this give you a unique insight into the country but it will also help you to communicate during your travels. Your afternoons will be spent immersing yourself in the local culture as you play with children at a local orphanage, visit an Arabic horse village, meet with Egyptians to discuss ideas and traditions, share an oriental Egyptian meal and work with children in a local school. Day 7: Cairo. Today you will visit the ancient Pyramids of Giza & the Sphinx. Transfer overnight to Aswan. Day 8: Aswan. After exploring the city at your leisure in the morning you will take a Felucca to the Botanical Gardens before travelling to a Nubian Village where you will learn traditional songs and dances before ending the day with an authentic Nubian meal. Day 9: Kom Ombo. You will sail down the Nile towards Kom Ombo on a Felucca and spend the night sleeping out under the stars. Day 10: Luxor. In the morning you will sail toward the temple of Kom Ombo then travel onto Luxor where you will have the afternoon free to explore the East Bank. Luxor Kom Ombo Aswan Day 11: Luxor. You will spend the morning with local people and the afternoon exploring the West Bank of Luxor, where you will visit The Colossi of Memnon, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. Day 12: Hurghada. You will transfer to Hurghada where you can swim or scuba dive in the warm shallow waters. Day 13: Hurghada. You will have the whole day free to relax on the beach or explore the city. Day 14: Cairo. Transfer to Cairo. You will have the rest of the day free to explore the city. Day 15: Return home.
