With its diverse terrain, colourful culture and vast array of native wildlife, South Africa is an almost irresistible destination and this tour is the perfect way to explore it. Youll be travelling the Garden Route, which is not named for its cultivated gardens as many expect, but rather for the splendour of its wild unspoilt coastline. Everywhere you go you will be within easy reach of beautiful beaches, great fishing and spectacular forest scenery, as well as dolphin and whale watching. Youll be starting in Cape Town, and travelling on into the surrounding farmlands for a wine tasting extravaganza. As you journey across the country you will be met by stunning views and breathtaking scenes at every turn, and you can rest assured that you wont want to leave. Finally youll arrive in Oudtshoorn, a beautiful haven for nature and wildlife where you will have the opportunity to see the countrys fascinating native animals up-close.

Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hostel. Day 2: Swellendam or Mossel Bay. Today you will set out on a wine tour which will include a relaxing boat trip down the river. This is a great opportunity to sample the best of the local wines. Day 3: Plettenburg Bay. Transfer to Plettenburg Bay, stopping at Knysna along the way. This action-packed day sees your group canoeing across the Knysna Lagoon to the Featherbed nature reserve, exploring the Knysna heads by quad bike and abseiling down the cliffs. Day 4: Plettenburg Bay. Your morning is free to dabble in some optional activities like visiting the local monkey sanctuary or throwing yourself off one of the highest bungee jumps in the world. For the less extreme, you can always take the opportunity to shop in the town of Plettenburg bay or just chill out on the beach. In the afternoon you will take a zip slide tour through the treetops.

Day 5: Oudtshoorn. Today you will travel through spectacular mountain passes to Oudtshoorn. Youll have time to rest and recuperate before starting your volunteer work the next day. Day 6-13: Oudtshoorn. For the next week youll have the chance to see some of the countrys fascinating native wildlife up-close. As a volunteer at the Cango Wildlife Ranch you will be helping staff to prepare food, feed animals and clean the cages. You could even find yourself playing and helping to exercise the animals. Day 14: Return home. Plan journey from Oudtshoorn for more travel or back to Cape Town for flight home.
