Youll be whisked across the country from Kolkata in the North East to Jaipur in the fairytale kingdom of Rajasthan. Travelling in two-tier air-con (2A as its known to the locals) you will be living in comparative luxury as you watch the stunning countryside roll by your window. This amazing journey will see you taking in many of Northern Indias most famous sites: the pilgrims of Varanasi on the banks of the Holy Ganges, the Taj Mahal and the truly unbelievable Pink City of Jaipur. Not to mention the many sights, sounds and smells of Indias peerless capital, Delhi. You will also be involved with vital volunteer work in all 3 destinations. This truly fantastic journey will give you a real taste of modern India. Day 2: Kolkata. Today you will visit the Victoria Memorial, Tagores house and the Marble palace. In the afternoon you will volunteer at a local project. Day 3: Kolkata. You will continue your tour of the city, visiting the Botanical garden and the shopping centres. In the afternoon you will volunteer at a local project. Day 4: Kolkata. Today you will visit the Kalighat Temple and Mother Teresas house. In the afternoon you will volunteer at a local project. Transfer to Varanasi. Day 5: Varanasi. Today you will tour the city. In the evening you will travel to Delhi on the Shiv Ganga Express. Day 6: Delhi. You will arrive in Delhi in the morning and start your volunteer work at Chetanalaya. You will also have time to visit Chandni Chowk, the Old Delhi market. Day 7: Delhi. In the morning you will be doing voluntary work with Akshay Pratishthan and in the afternoon you will have a shopping excursion to Connaught Place. Day 8: Delhi. Today you will tour the city.
